Legends of Andor is a cooperative game for 2-4 players.

You control a hero either a Dwarf, Wizzard, fighter or elf. Each has there own character board and there own special ability. Try to defend Andor or die trying.

The first thing that strikes you about this game is just how beautiful the artwork is.
Michael Menzel created the artwork for other games, Cuba, Stone Age and they are striking as well. This is his first attempt at game design and I think that it is a fantastic first time effort.

The game is unusual in the fact that to begin with you learn as you play the game. And to that end there are very few rules to learn. There are 5 legends that are are all linked to each other in a story that plays out to a climax at the end.
Legend one is a tutorial level and will guide you through how the basics in the game work. Future legends will add more rules as you progress. Each legend will have objectives that you have to suceed in to advance to the next legend.
Gameplay is very easy, basically a hero can do one standard action, move, fight or wait. And then he can do a variety of free actions. The games timer so to speak is a pawn that moves along a Letered track and basicaly you will need to complete the objectives before the pawn reaches the last square on that track. The clever part of this time track is that everytime you kill a monster the pawn advances, this is good because it is not just a fact of killing loads of monsters to win. Because of that you have to plan just how many monsters you can afford to kill. Which is a great touch and makes the game not just a fight fest.
I will not go into each legend as it will spoil the story but I will say that there are some realy nice surprises along the way as you play.

Another fantasy flight gem.
The pieces are well presented as you would expect from fantasy flight. The game play is great, the various missions are interesting and require thought to succeed. The fact that the assoicated website provides advice for creating your own missions to extend the life and reuse of the game is a very welcome touch.
The only slight downside is that the cardboard pieces that represent the various models can be subject to early wear from placing them on stands if you are not careful. Though this can easily be avoided.
All in all a good edition to a board game collection

My 7 yr old son rated this game 10/10 and named best game ever played. This is up to 4 players cooperative fantasy boardgame that you can easily play with your kids - you have different characters, you fight monsters (and dragon), you roll dice, you save people - it is just great fun! The components are fantastic: 2-sided board is beautiful and full of details, one of the best graphics I saw in years in boardgames. Rules are very easy and you learn as you play (like in videogames tutorial). There are 5 different scenarios so there should be a lot gameplay, you can also create your own scenario (Legend as they call it)!

Really enjoyable game with 2 or 3 or 4 players; the number playing produces interesting changes. Nice to be able to vary the level of difficulty. There's a free extra scenario you can download too. Very good idea to have an introductory scenario to get used to the rules. This is like dungeons & dragons, without anywhere near as much hard work to set up.
