Nice size and style 13 April 2011
By J.E.T
I bought this chest as a present for someone and was very impressed with it on arrival. It was well made with no out of places hinges or suchlike (something I was worried about after reading reviews on similar items) and a nice lining of red velvety material. A nice size, you can easily slip a few sweets, little hand written cards, some jewellery or anything you want in here- maybe to make up a little 'treasure chest' filled with someone's favourite things. This is big enough to fit something inside easily (do obviously check the dimensions before you buy though if you know what you want to fit in it) but not oversized at all, so it fits nicely onto a shelf or in a drawer, so it can be useful and nice for storage once it had had it's initial use as a present or 'treasure chest' on a child's treasure hunt.

The gold detailing on this chest makes it lovely to look at and just that finishing touch to make it seem special. It is good for an authentic looking chest for a treasure hunt (just fill with chocolate coins and make a treasure map for the person hunting) or as something a bit more special and that you can display. There is potential to get the top gold plaque engraved as well if you wish.

The clasp is a simple one which you could easily slip a small padlock through if you wished, although I just tied it with ribbon, which looked nice.

I liked this item and it was exactly what I was hoping for: an authentic chest shape, nicely made, great looking, a good size and generally just a good product. The only work I had to do to make this perfect was giving it a bit of a polish. If you take the time to do that though and fill it nicely, I am sure the recipient will be very pleased.

treasure chest 4 Nov 2009
By PC
My children almost never ask for presents. So when last summer they had an idea of treasure chests - I had to find them. And guess what - it was really hard. I spent days searching through Amazon and eBay. It was near impossible to find medium sized treasure chest with a lock. To start with there aren't many treasure chests, you have to search trough trinket boxes, huge bedroom antic chests and so on. Eventually we never found the medium size they wanted. Because some of them didn't have hooks for a lock.
So we bought two quite similar chests - one shorter and one longer. They are very similar quality. And both had one pin in the hinge missing. Both on the same side. I never bothered to complain. As long as they are careful. So far they lasted for about half a year.
We also bought two very small locks. They matched the holes exactly. Though one hook was a bit lopsided and we had to use a drill.

We purchased four of these little boxes for our grandchildren and intend to fill them with coins for Christmas. We are very pleased with them, there is one little brass nail missing from a hinge, and it would have been a bonus if the brass plaques could have been engraved by the vendor (I would not have minded paying a bit extra), but on the whole they are well made, sturdy, attractive little boxes and are good value for money. I am sure the children will be very pleased with them.
