A Collection Of Hit-Or-Miss SciFi And Fantasy 2 Mar. 2014
By Dr.Gonzo - Published on

The stories in this collection vary from (what I would consider) 4 star entertaining reads to 2 star not so good reads.

My favorite story is called "I Am The Last." Its about people downloading their consciousness' into databases. It makes me think of a kind of Inception meets The Matrix story. It had a good ending too, I had to think about it since it wasn't spelled out.

I also enjoyed "The Long Night" in which a man in conscripted to work as an Agent for the World Government. It details his trek through the rainy jungle on a mission to install a nanobot-built landing pad.

Some of the other stories however, I found to be long winded and somewhat tedious to read. "A Wave Then Goodbye" was much longer than most of the other stories and was one of the least interesting. "Forever And A Day" was bogged down by too many fantasy names and words. "Beag Scath!" says one cursing character in that tale. I can do without the made up words.

I award this collection 3 stars since it contains good stories, interspersed with ok stories, and one or two boring stories.

Wonderful collection!! A fine group of authors with an intersting theme. You will want to read this. One of the best anthologies of the year.
