About the Author
ANNA KEMP grew up in a street with a gang of kids and spent her childhood sticker-swapping, playing pac-man and co-ordinating BMX displays. She was a bit of a late reader but now reads a lot in her job at Oxford University where she works on contemporary French literature. Her first picture book DOGS DON'T DO BALLET was published in 2010, FANTASTIC FRANKIE AND THE BRAIN-DRAIN MACHINE is her first young fiction title and will publish in 2011. After briefly considering careers in space travel, cookery and being a rabbit, Alex T. Smith finally decided to become an illustrator. In 2006 he graduated from Coventry University with a 1st Class Hons degree in Illustration. Alex now lives in York with girlfriend Jemma and their three tiny, naughty dogs.

Being a teacher I am often reading children's books, I have to say that I particularly enjoyed this book and would certainly recommend it to others. :0)

This book is a really entertaining read for younger readers with a bit of stamina.
It has an amusing storyline, with a slightly more serious side if you choose to find it. It has some wonderful characters and some wacky ideas - and all of this is wonderfully illustrated.
How can some children say that reading is boring?!? They just have not found the right book yet and this might well be the one to get them hooked!

This book has really captured the imagination of my 7 year old daughter. I'm really enjoying it too -it's well-written and amusing.
