Product Description

Compilation of five episodes from the 1990s animated series. The legend of the Fantastic Four begins when an experimental space voyage goes awry and four people are challenged by the universe's cosmic rays. Reed Richards (voice of Beau Weaver), the leader of the group, gains the ability to stretch his body and takes the name Mr. Fantastic. His girlfriend, Sue Storm (voice of Lori Alan), finds she can now turn herself invisible and create force fields, becoming the Invisible Girl. Her little brother, Johnny Storm (voice of Quinton Flynn), discovers he can control fire, including covering his own body with flames. Finally, pilot Ben Grimm (voice of Chuck McCann) is turned into The Thing, a hideously misshapen monster with super-human strength. The group of four band together, using their unique powers to explore the world and to foil the evil plans of villains bent on world domination.

3.0 out of 5 stars It's Clobbering Time... 12 July 2005
By GPickup VINE™ VOICE
Format:DVD|Amazon Verified Purchase
With the Fantastic Four film hitting cinemas this summer (2005), Marvel and Buena Vista have released this dvd containing 5 episodes of the 1994/1995 Fantastic Four cartoon, which originally aired as part of "Marvel Action Hour".

They did the same when the X-Men, Spiderman, Daredevil and Hulk films were released. But anyways, on to the review.

First off, the packaging - could be it be any more bland? It looks like someone's just died and got a tribute DVD.

Second, the episodes - a pretty good pick. The two part origin story seeing the FF getting their powers/taking on Puppet Master and the three part "Face Of Doom" arc, which shows Dr.Doom's origin and a trip through time.

The animation seems a little rough (even for the early 90's) but the voice acting is good and the theme song is really catchy (it will stick in your head).

To sum up:

- Kids who liked the FF film may like, but don't expect any major special effects.
- Animation lovers will cringe slightly
- Why did they not just release all the FF episodes? There's only like 15 more and a FF boxset would have been cool.
