Amazon.co.uk Review

JK Rowling takes her enviable ability to turn paper into gold to the next level by cleverly teaming up with Comic Relief 2001 to bring Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (a set text during Harry's first year at Hogwarts) and Quidditch Through the Ages (Harry's favourite book), to the masses--and all the money goes to charity. --Susan Harrison --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

Product Description

As featured in the first year set texts reading list in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is an extensive introduction to the magical beasts that exist in the magical, non-Muggle world. Some of the animals featured in the A-Z you will have already met in the existing Harry Potter books: for example Hippogriff, Flobberworm, Kappa - others you certainly won't: read on to find out exactly what a Chizpurfle is, or why one should always beware of the sinister Lethifold ...As Albus Dumbledore says in his introduction, this set text book by Newt Scamander has given the perfect grounding to many a Hogwarts student. It will be helpful to all Muggles out there too ...On reading the book you will also find that Harry, Ron and (in one instance) Hermione - couldn't resist grafittiing the book, and adding their own personal hand-written opinions.

Hillarious! 25 Mar 2002
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
This book is about all the different beasts in the world. I loved hearing about the riddiculous Puffskein and the deadly Lethifold. Another addition to the quality of the book are the fun comments and pictures scribbled in the book by Harry, Ron and Hermione. I highly reccomend this book to anyone who is looking for more information on Harry's world.

Great! 26 Aug 2003

Format:Paperback
For all Harry Potter fans, this book is absolutely fantastic! It's a great reference guide to all the magical creatures in the magical world, and it's a great read! Extremely good value for money, and proceeds go to Comic Relief. What more could you ask for?

Amazing... 26 Mar 2001
Format:Paperback
This book is great fun! The little comments from Harry and his friends give it a personal touch of humour. It also helps enhance your knowledge of the wizard world, for instance, it reveals that Hogwarts is in Scotland... and the true powers of the phoenix... If you have to choose between this one and the Quidditch one (although at £2.50 each... get both!!) then I'd recommend this one. It's easy to read, light hearted and a great addition to the Harry Potter novels. ROLL ON ORDER OF THE PHOENIX!!!

Fantastic!
I found this book to be a nice addition to the series. Unlike the Quidditch book, this work is pure Rowling: witty, fantastic and clever.
