Just think twice!! 28 July 2012
By Samuelle Thorley - Published on
Okay, so I was sitting in the position that I imagine many people have been/are 'I don't want beats because there too common now but I still want something stylish' so I decided I would get the 2000 series Fanny Wangs. After coming to the checkout I realised that I didn't have enough money with the $30 shipping to the UK attached. So I opted for the 1000 series headphones instead. After waiting what seemed forever and sending many emails to find out where my package was (as the site wouldn't show me) they finally arrived. I was so exited as I took everything out the box ect. revealing my 1003 white Fanny Wang headphones I was over the moon. Tested them and although the bass was... barely existent, the mid's and highs were sharp like said....HOWEVER... After just a week, (bearing in mind I was super careful with these, always in the carry case when not used, barely stretching the hinges ect.)the metal case that keeps the cushion headband in place popped off. As I investigated with my heart on the floor, I noticed that two PLASTIC circles that were supposed to hold the metal in place had just snapped into pieces. One day later, putting them on my head the other one broke. I will be returning these for a refund not an exchange. I was hoping for much better sound for the money, regardless of the metal coming off. I HAVE tested Studio Beats and I will be investing in a pair as you can pick them up for a similar price if you look around. Think twice before you buy these. Although I've got my 2 year warranty, there just not the expected build for the money. I like my bass and there not kidding on other reviews when they say there's little bass.

Save money returning products and opt for the beats. Yes they are common (ish) but there bloody good headphones if you like your bass.

Sorry for the length but anyone who read this I hope a full insight has helped you

Best headphones on the market! 1 Mar. 2012

Broke easily, no help from Fanny Wang. UPDATE: They sent me new ones. 9 May 2013

I initially enjoyed these headphones. They sound decent, they look good, and they're a better value than other, similar headphones.

Or so I thought. A month or two after buying them, the headband broke as I was removing them. I wasn't being especially rough with them, just bending them enough to take them off my head...and the band cracked all the way through, rendering them useless.

I submitted a support request through Fanny Wang's website. I heard nothing for a few days, until finally I received an email asking me to provide a proof of purchase. I did so, at which point the support rep issued me an RMA number and an address to which she wanted me to ship the headphones. It wasn't explained to me what was going to happen, but I assumed I'd be issued a new set of headphones.

No such luck. I shipped the broken headphones, with a printout of the email conversation along with the RMA number (inside the box and on the shipping label)...and heard nothing. Then more nothing. Then more nothing. I sent another support request through their website (this is the ONLY means which they provide to request help) and heard nothing. I replied to the email I initially received form the support rep...nothing. I even sent a message to Fanny Wang's facebook page...ignored.

It's been months now and I have received no word. They have my broken headphones and my money and I have nothing.

UPDATE: After I submitted a complaint to the Better Business Bureau, Fanny Wang finally got in touch and sent me new headphones. I've upgraded my rating from one to three stars accordingly.

Broken in 1 day/ Disappointed 28 Jun. 2012

These are my first set of headphones. I'm normally an earphone person but I wanted to give headphones a try. Because everyone has those dreaded Dr. Dre solo's or studios, I wanted something different.

Unboxing. Packaging was ok. Not as nice as Dr. Dre or B+O or B+W packaging, but its okay. The inner plastic groove that holds the headphones is made from cheap flimsy plastic. However the box, casing and cloth case is nicely made.

Sound. Sound is good, it's right where I wanted it for the price. Bass is good but not as strong as some other products I demoed. I'm not an audiophile so I don't understand the terminology of high, lows and mids.

Quality. Overall construction feels nice. The plastic feels of high quality and the metal finishes are nice touches as well. So after just one day of use, the metal part on the inside of the headphone fell off. Its held by two screws. The problem with this design is that this metal part is a solid piece holding onto a flexible piece of plastic. Whenever you put on your headphones, you are forced to cause flexion, thus compromising the integrity of the screw inserts. So after my metal piece fell off, I saw the plastic grooves of the plastic were chipped off. They should have had the screws enter a metal piece attached to the plastic headband instead of the plastic headband itself. I can understand this breaking in a 1 year or two but not in 1 day.

Features. the split cable design is a cool feature and it seems to be tangle free. My only gripe is that its very short. I wish these came with an extension cable. The control talk on the cable is of poor construction as well. It is very challenging to press the middle button to change tracks because it moves so easily away from the inner clicking button. You'll find yourself pressing it multiple times just to move a track forward.

I really wanted to like this thing, but yeah, its hard to when they break so easily. If it wasn't for the build quality, I'd give this 4 stars.

-Ok sound quality
-Feels nice (soft)
-fur case is nice
-split cable design with tangle free

-Poor build quality
-control talk buttons are annoying
-packaging could be better
-makes creaking noises just to put on

sound amazing but......mine lasted less than 2 months! 18 Feb. 2014

These headphones sound great! i paid $150 for these through amazon as i was not interested in conforming and wearing beats. the reviews said they also sounded better and i agree, however built quality is poor! mine broke where the hinge is. the plastic is cheap and the design is flawed if they break after 2 months. did not even try and send back as am in australia. looking at the low price now i would be tempted, however why bother if they won't last. my advise is look elsewhere, do a search of best headphones on the market and you will find plenty on amazon for under $100 that will last you a lot longer.
