Fancy Nancy likes everything to be, well, fancy. She has only one problem - nobody else in her family shares her tastes, so she has to teach them. Having given lessons in how to glam them up, Fancy Nancy takes her new family, complete with accessories, out to dinner. This is a delightful book, full of sparkle and glitter, with plenty of girly humour and illustrations. If your daughter likes Eloise or Olivia, then she will love this character too. My four year old daughter loved the book, although my son was not quite so keen. Unashamedly for the girls and none the worse for that!

This is a really excellent book.
Firstly, the physical production is very good. The softcover has glittery texture and attractive artwork. Inside, the artwork is of a very high standard.
The book follows little girl Nancy (whom I guess to be about 6 or 7)and her obsession with what is really quite outrageously vulgar fashion - which she terms being "fancy", and her comparitively sober family. This culminates in a cavalcade of excess and a minor disaster.
The book identifies several French words which Nancy understands to be the apogee of sophistication, and also some rather amusing concepts.
The book and this character are quite vivid and is quite a contrast to the contemporary British girls' characters like (Charlie and)Lola and Princess Poppy -it's fairly refreshing to have a character that is slightly fantastic and excessive rather than the aforementioned that are intended to be art imitating life.
I thoroughly recommend it to anyone, especially parents of small girls.

This book is a joyful ray of sunshine. Nancy has the most fancy room you've ever seen! She lives with her happy family who don't understand that lace socks do make her play better football and that everything sounds better in French! She is a delight. She invites her family to join a fancy class so she can teach them to be fancy. They accept and dress up for a visit to a restaurant, where Nancy collects all the parfaits (French for ice-cream sundae) on a tray. She trips and the tray does a double flip. She doesn't feel so fancy covered in ice-cream. Her wonderful family clean her up take her home and tell her they love her. It is soooooo feel good this book. Nancy discovers there really is no fancy way of saying I love you.
On the educational side Nancy introduces the idea of different words meaning the same thing. There are some words of French included too.
My daughters adore this book, it has even expanded their vocabulary to include stupendous. It is fun, bright and bears much repetition. I've pre-ordered the next book which comes out in March.

Fantastic book!
My 4 year old daughter LOVES this book. It's her favourite and I'm now buying one for her best friend. A really lovely, funny, sweet book. Definitely can recommend it!

Great book, shame about Amazon Packers
