I like cemeteies and I really like visiting the graves of the famous and infamous. From the time I was little I'd go to cemeteries with my dad and do tombstone rubbings and visit interesting graves and monuments. Often pre-net, I'd do research regarding the people in the cemeteries I visited.
For someone with my hobby, this book is a fine resource. It documents the grave locations of a really large number of prominent people buried in the U.K. and abroad and is restricted primarily to British subjects. Broken down by regions, this book documents grave locations and provides very basic biographical information about its subjects. While it covers people I am familiar with, it also covers a lot of people I've never heard of who are part of the country's history or have made contributions to society, etc.
I went to England this summer and wished I had this book then. It would have enhanced my boneyard visits immensely. As it stands, this book has launched me on numerous research projects since reading it because it has stirred my curiousity.
Well written and researched, this book is a lot of fun and manages to avoid the morbid. I'd recommend it to anyone who likes graveyards.
