This was our first experience with purchasing in this manner and whilst I have noted that the product was first class, the initial service we received from Howden toys was completely unacceptable.
We completed our order on the Saturday and had initial confirmation that this has been received, accepted, our monies debited and then the order had been shipped.
As you can imagine, receiving a call from the said retail outlet on the Tuesday morning to say that they had only 2 left and they had both been sold was a surprise to say the least. Further to this, we then received another email confirming that our order was still in "shipping".
We enquired about the fact that this level of service was extremely poor and if we purchased from another retailer and the cost was more, would they pay the difference - we were met with a defined NO from the manager to whom this request had been referred. We then received confirmation that the monies had been returned to our bank, and then once more to our amazement, another email confirming that the product was on its way.
I operate fully in a customer service driven environment and have to say that the manner in which this was dealt with has to be one of the worst I have experienced, although I would say that any blame in terms of amazon is not where I would place this as the retail outlet was the supplier, however I would suggest that these practices be investigated by Amazon as this is the headline name and therefore where many people may lay blame.
Why we should still have been receiving confirmation of shipping is truly not in the sense of treating customers fairly and to not even look at any potential offering of a gesture of good will does not show the said firm in good light.
Kind regards
Greig
