A few years ago The Cast of Cheers were somewhere in Ireland writting their debut album. As a Brit i have never heard or seen anything of this mysterious album and after asking the internet, it simply replied "dunno". Which leads me onto their sophmore album and the first real releease for these shores. Family is a sneaky effort, at first its easy to dismiss it as yet another hyperactive, math-rock cousin of bands like Foals and Bloc Party, but with each play the album starts to come alive and beyond the jerky basslines are some magic pop tracks. The stunning Family is the perfect opener through to Animal and the best track on the album Trucks at Night, with its hypnotic, repetition it may even be making my top 20 tracks of the year...
A splendid indie album
