4.0 out of 5 stars Fun for kids and exercise too.... 4 Oct 2008
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
We got this a few days ago and have played it a few times far so good. My son was a little reluctant at first but once he got used to the controls he loved it.There are still some games he finds harder than others but older children (he is 6) will probably be ok.

I would recommend getting this instead of Wii Fit if you only want something to get your kids active. The games are fun and more high impact than the majority of the wii fit program, and of course the 2 player element adds to the fun of it. Mine Kart is a great game because you can even have 3 playing at one time...2 controlling the movements of the cart via the mat, and another pumping up the speed using the wii remote!

Most of the games involve running or jumping in some variation, but some are a bit more intuitive than that. The aforementioned Mine Kart it probably the best, along with Whack-a-mole, Board Rider and Skate wotsit. The game only really loses a star in my opinion as I am not sure how long the novelty will last once it has been around a few months, I suppose this really all depends on your childs (or your own) attention span!

Few gripes about the mat, which can be a bit slippy on carpet, it seems to be designed more for hard floors. We have a rug on laminate floor and we have to move it out of the way to play without any grief . so I would recommend getting some rug gripper or similar for this if you only have carpet on your floor. Also it is a bit small for 2 adults or older children to stand on together, I have already had a few nasty whacks on the arm during play!

Overall though, fun game, great physical exercise for your kiddies (think long winter evenings...). almost half the price of the elusive Wii fit and (at time of posting) a darn sight easier to get hold of!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous 30 Dec 2008
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I have both Wii Fit and now Family Trainer - I am surprised as the family trainer gets you far more active than wii fit does. The exercises are simple and fun - especially if there is a group of you as you can all laugh at each others expense.

Very funny, very active, I would definitely recommend this game for light hearted fun and exercise.

The only problem is on the multi player mode, the game mat isn't always big enough for two adults - my family found that when 2 adults were on it they bumped into each other whilst competing.

Otherwise, a fab game!

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Received this game today, kids love it, great fun, keeps you an the kids VERY FIT, my kids are 5 & 7, they picked the actions up very quickly, put me to same, but hey, when they are in bed .........., we LOVED EVERY every minute we played the FAMILY TRAINING.
If you wan to get fit, and not leave the house and spend lots on a gym, then this is the one for you, it will get you fit while having FUN.

4.0 out of 5 stars Exhausting family fun! 8 Feb 2009
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
This game is wonderful!(although, slightly tiring)
We have not explored all areas but it is great all the same.I found it clever that it had single player, multiplayer and free play. The ranks are fair and this game will test, improve and rate your ablity.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent!! 11 Jan 2009
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Forget using this game to keep fit! It's just loads of fun and so easy to play but with different levels which really help. We have two kids aged 6 and 3 and we all play together - both with and against each other which is fantastic. Yes, the games are short but that suits kids as it's stops them getting bored. We had friends round for an evening and this kept us amused all evening - and the fact that it's short games, works even better as we kept chopping and changing all evening. Lastly, because the skills levels are low, it doesnt matter if you don't play it regularly! I'd recommend it to anyone - but not as a means of getting fit!

5.0 out of 5 stars Siomoply brilliant as a social and Family game 2 Jan 2009
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
a word of advise, in my opinion this is not a game to paly alone or to think it is the solution to avoid the gym. this is intended to be a FAMILY trainer. this does not train only the physic, it trains the coopetition within your family.
the game has 2 very distintt multi player modes, cooperation and competition. the cooperation is great to bond with kids of all ages. the competition is a great drinking game :)

i got this game for christmas as a present, we were not convinced about it at all... until we gave it a go colectivelly.
i have 2 kid, 1 aged 3 years old and another one 5 years old. I had my mom and my sister over for christmas and we spent countless hours playing the game. but you need to play it as a group. even my mother who is absolutelly adverse to computer games, had a go and loved it. My eldest son admited that this was the best christmas present he got, and we gave him everything he asked for...

for new year we had a couple of friends arround and this game was the main feature of the night. whilst the kid were still awake, all the frineds and theyr kids played the game together, either in team mode or compeating, we had mothers vs mothers, family teams, kids againt parents.. was great fun. after the kids went to bed we stating the drinking game... well it did not end well, to many forfits, and what people complain that the games are short, i tell you that is a disaster for drinking games. the tequila really sufered! no need to say that we had a great time and lots of people staing over not being in good condition to drive.

i can understand how people who play it on their own can get disapointed. i dont believe this is a replacement or direct competition to the wii fit, this is THE SOCIAL GAME that makes the wii so successful.

1.0 out of 5 stars Dissapointed - Mat does not work on newer Wii console!
I am sure this is a cracking game, but we've been hit by the fact that newer Wii consoles don't come with the game cube ports, meaning that the mat cannot be collected. Read more
