It’s criminal, really, given the sheer outright quality of Family Guy that more people aren’t willing to give it a try. For while it tends to draw comparisons to The Simpsons--after all, it is a family-based animated comedy show--Family Guy very much has a voice of its own. It’s also less worried about catering to a family demographic, something the writers have little problem making the most of.
Season four has plenty of evidence for why the show shouldn’t be overlooked. Picking up the story of the family Griffin, this time more of the background characters are allowed into the limelight, and that’s really to the programme’s benefit. That’s not to say the main players are out of sight, and the quite wonderful baby Stewie has plenty of air time, but there’s a real ensemble feel.
The rapid-fire, razor-sharp wit and writing quality that’s become the trademark of the show is present and correct too, and the quality of the episodes on offer put season four up there as not quite the finest series of Family Guy to date, but it nonetheless runs things very close indeed. Family Guy just goes from strength to strength. Seth Macfarlane and his team of writers are excellent, producing episodes that almost dwarf the ones before in terms of hilarity. There are more 'cut-aways' in this season, and although these are key to the shows success, the creators may have gone slightly overboard with them this time around. It is of course still hilarious, essential viewing, ('Gary, The No-Trash Cougar' had me in fits!) If you are not into this show already.... then I highly recommend it. Roll on the fifth season!

Aah Family Guy, what's not to like eh? The first half of this season is hysterically funny in places. Peter has another fight with the guy in the chicken outfit for starters!!! However something seems to be lacking in this season, and the further it goes on the less funny it becomes, although I cant put my finger on why. For some reason alot of the flashback gags seem rather forced as the season goes on. Normally they have me in hysterics at how random they are (the firetruck hunting it's prey is a classic) but it's almost as if the usual writers took off halfway through the season and were replaced by a different bunch who were told to stick to the formula, but didn't quite get it right. Still if you're a fan, there's enough here to keep you amused and show to your mates when they pop round, but it's definitely one of the weaker seasons, if not the weakest.

Although every episode in this boxset is funny I believed there would have been 20 episodes in this boxset as the official website tells us that this season had 20 episodes when it was released (now there are 25 episodes) so either fox has been showing season 5 right after season 4 finished, or we didn't get the whole season and it will later be piled into season 5 boxset, or the official website is mis-leading and arn't doing their jobs properley.

Worst series
