Amazon.co.uk Review
What better way to commemorate Star Wars' 30th anniversary than with this double-length Very Special Episode, a full-scale, awesomely animated spoof that recasts George Lucas's saga with Family Guy's galaxy of characters: Chris (Seth Green) is Luke; Lois (Alex Borstein) is Princess Leia; Peter (Seth McFarlane) is Han Solo, but not, as expected, Jabba the Hut; Brian (Seth, again) is Chewbacca; Quagmire (and again, Seth) is C3PO; Cleveland is R2D2; Herbert, the creepy senior paedophile, is Obi-Wan (both voiced by Mike Henry); and, of course, Stewie (Seth, one more time) is Darth Vader ("My diapers have gone over to the dark side"). Poor Meg is reduced to a cameo as the hideous reptilian creature that haunts the garbage compactor.

Blue Harvest is reverently faithful to A New Hope, while engaging in typical Family Guy pop-culture references (everything from old commercials to Doctor Who, Airplane, Dirty Dancing, and Deal or No Deal) and bizarre digressions (the iconic opening crawl detours into an appreciation of a "way naked" Angelina Jolie in Gia). Along for the wild ride are Judd Nelson, who contributes a voice cameo as John Bender for a Breakfast Club gag, Rush Limbaugh railing against futuristic affirmative action on Tatooine talk radio, and Beverly D'Angelo and Chevy Chase as the vacationing Griswolds observing the rebellion from their orbiting station wagon. A Star Wars spoof in 2007 isn't exactly uncharted territory. As Chris Griffin notes in this episode's final moments, Robot Chicken brilliantly did it months earlier (and let us not forget Mel Brooks's Spaceballs from 1987; or, on second thought...). But the Force is strong with Family Guy, and who could resist the opportunity to hear the Muzak playing in a Death Star elevator? --Donald Liebenson, Amazon.com

DVD Description
The laughs come full "Force" when the Griffin clan puts a freakin’ sweet spin on the greatest sci-fi saga ever told. With Peter playing the swashbuckling Han Solo, Lois as the sexy Princess Leia, Chris as an adolescent Luke Skywalker, Brian as a well-spoken Chewbacca and Stewie finally embracing his dark side as Darth Vader, who knows what will happen? Filled with outrageous gags, spaced-out droids and more intergalactic satire than you can shake a lightsabre at, this epic spoof of Star Wars: A New Hope is a must-own for every fan of Family Guy.

3.0 out of 5 stars Oh dear!!, 27 Jan 2008
The film itself is good, I love family guy.
The extras are ok, especially if you like that sort of thing.
Art book is nice as well

Here are the problems. Once out of the packets, the 3D glasses and cards will never sit in the box again.
3D glasses didn't seem to work for me, did no see 3D.
The box says 2 pairs, but only came with one.

And once the t-shirt is taken out, there is just a large empty space.

Another thing is that it does not come with the extra disc with the pc verson of the film like the US version. and the extra episode is jus from season 4. What's the point?

3.0 out of 5 stars Somewhat Disappointing, 21 Jan 2008
By J. A. Taylor - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I recieved my copy of this Limited Edition Family Guy Blue Harvest DVD today and immediatly I out it on and watched intently and for those 45 minutes I was enthralled.

However, After it finished I was rather let Down by the Special Features which in my Opinion are Quite Poor. You get the same Features as the Normal Disc but with a 2 Minute 3D Fight scene which is also the only use for the 3D Glasses which are supplied. I watched the interviews with George Lucas and Seth Macfarlane that wre quite frankly Cringe Worthy and I found that the Only decent Special Feature was the Commentary for the Main Episode.

Also Included on the Disc is the Episode North By North Quahog which also appears on the Season 4 DVD Release. I was dissapointed by the Episode not because it is a Bad Episode (Which it Isn't) but due to the fact it is no Different from the Box Set Release apart from the fact that it contains no commentary whereas the Box Set one did.

Now, The Packaging is Okay. However, the US Release of the DVD contained a Proper Case for the DVD inside of the Digipack Fold and also contained a Bonus Disc which allowed the Episode to be Transferred to the Computer to put on your iPod.

Overall a Great Episode and A Must Have but Go For the Standard Edition, It's much Cheaper and is almost Exactly the Same as This.

5.0 out of 5 stars First of what could be a series of Star Wars specials, 17 Dec 2007
By P. Burgham "Pedros" (Chester, England) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Anyone who is a fan of Star Wars and Family Guy are going to love this special! I was lucky to be over in the states when this was first aired. I am a big family guy fan but did feel the previous UK DVD release (series 6) was slightly weaker than some of the others. I think the episode is a real return to top form and from reading peoples reviews on lots of different family guy DVD releases I'm sure some people will not be happy with just the single special episode release. But extras like interviews with Seth McFarlane & George Lucas, episode commentary and a sneak preview of a reported sequel special (something, something, something dark side based on empire strikes back) I think it is worth getting.

I had high expectations for this episode which all starts with the family watching TV before all the power goes out. So Peter decides to tell the family the story of Star Wars starting with Episode 4. Peter plays Hans Solo, Lois is Princess Leia, Chris is Luke Skywalker, Stewie is Darth Vader, Brian is Chewbacca and Meg turns up as the monster in the garbage shoot. The show also includes a fair share of your favourite other characters turning up with Cleveland and Quagmire as R2D2 and C3PO, Herbert as Obi-Wan and Major West as Darth Vader's Grand Moff Tarkin. It is a little disappointing the episode doesn't have a great character like Joe in it or the Channel 5 news team. But from the reports that a second Star Wars I'm sure they'll make it into that episode.

The episode is titled after the secret name during the production of the Return of the Jedi film and contains lots of the typical family guy gags. There are hilarious homage's to Airplane, the late 70's game Asteroids, National Lampoons vacation, Deal or No Deal, Dirty Dancing, Pimp My Ride and my personal favourite Dr Who (when they go into hyperspace). Probably the best cut away gag is when Chris introduces John Williams and the London Symphony Orchestra to play the music during the episode.

Overall I think if you're a massive fan of the show this is a must have. The special edition extras are 3D glasses for the fight scenes, special edition t-shirt and trading cards which are great for any family guy collection.
