I remember reading this book as an 8 year old (more years ago than I would like to admit!) and was delighted to see it available on Amazon.co.uk.

The story concerns two families of children who live next door to each other. At first the story relates a fair bit of animosity between the two groups of children (one set of kids being in favour of rough-and-tumble whilst the others are much more "refined" and have been "brought up nicely") but after various trials and tribulations they eventually learn to get on together and become the best of friends. I shall be getting this book for my kids - I now have an unruly brood of my own!

neighbours 4 Mar 2003

i must say enid blyton sure -knows how to play with all the strings in the human heart-all the playing of emotions - in the two families.their longings, how they r first intoduced slowly to the readers, individually and then as they become closer, involvrd in each others sad and happy moments- is heart touching-how the families help in times of trouble
.their wishes and hopes of an ideal family and how the neighbours should have interactions with each other.
these interactions with the neighbours are being seen less day by day- so this book of enid blytons should be a new lesson for the new generation with all the morals for the children.
