Book Description

9 Jan 2011
Moving the family from the UK to France was intended to bring a new and better life, and to give two newly adopted and troubled children a fresh start. One Monday morning, everything changed; the whole family would fall apart in the instant it took for one little girl to lie. The female detention judge looked at the author and spat the words, "You Monsieur Greene, are a paedophile and a pervert, and I have the authority to put you in prison for 20 years. I am going to make it my mission to do so." "In a country where it is presumed 'children don't lie,' it took three years to fight the archaic, biased French system and clear my name by law, but clearing my name with the French people was another matter." In this true story, the author tells how sometimes "good intentions" are not always enough. "We have managed through our own strengths and that of our true friends to put it behind us, but I still, to this day, have nightmares of the time I spent in a jail more akin to Victorian England." He wrote this book to show how False Accusations affect not only the accuser and the accused, but everyone in between. About the Author: Nik Greene grew up on a farm in Norfolk, England. He moved his family to Limoges, France in 2004, and today lives between Pompadour, France, and Kent, England. He is now studying criminal psychology, and is working on a series of books about a private detective named Jack Thompson. 5.0 out of 5 stars A must read! 28 Feb 2011
Format:Paperback
wow...what can i say...

A well written book about a man and his family's life and dreams turned upside down just from trying to help a child in need.
It brought me to tears and the thoughts running though my head on how such horrific things could of possibly happened to an innocent man just though one teen age girls words!
I would say though do not read from the middle to the end, just before going to bed as otherwise your mind will be going round and round trying to work out how such horrible things were let to happen to this man.

5.0 out of 5 stars A complete must-read! 26 Nov 2011
By Mrs
Format:Paperback
This book is quite staggering - I am privileged to know Nik, and had no idea of the hell he went through. I think it should be a must-read for anybody considering fostering. Its not a cheery read by any means, but quite inspiring to me that someone can go through this amount of awfulness and come out the other side!

5.0 out of 5 stars Read to avoid the pitfalls in adoption 11 April 2011
By BigBri
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
This books tells a horrifying story of what can go wrong with an adoption when you are not given the true details of a child by the local authority's social services. The behaviour of both British and French authorities is unforgiveable.

I hope that the author can eventually get over it. What a dreadful situation he was put into. There is a lot to learn from this for potential adoptees as the story is told so very clearly and with great discretion.
