Amazon.co.uk Review

It’s 200 years since nuclear war destroyed the world, and you’re just about to be let out for the first time. Combining a dark sense of humour and the best elements of action and role-playing games, there’s no world left to save in Fallout 3. You search for your lost father and simply try to survive.
Recruiting allies depends on your reputation and what you can offer them
This Mad Max-style world is not a pretty one
Mutants and crazed robots are common enemies
The targeting system allows you to take your time when combatting attackers

In the post-apocalyptic world of Fallout 3, weapons and clothing have to be custom built. You'll make rocket launchers out of leaf blowers and patch together armour. Help on your journey comes from your trusty dog and a single other computer controlled companion, whom you can recruit and dismiss whenever you like. You best choose wisely, though, because this world is not a friendly one.

Key Features
  • You’re SPECIAL: Create a unique look for your character, and then train on key skills and define personality traits using the renowned SPECIAL statistics system.
  • Pip pip: Fallout 3 is a complicated game, but the all-new PIPBoy 3000 personal computer makes it easy to track quests, examine maps, and receive clues on how to progress.
  • VATS amazing: The combat system is called the Vault-tec Assisted Targeting System (VATS) and ensures you don’t need any arcade skills to play.
  • Karma chameleon: You’re free to commit crimes and act however you want in the game, but people and factions will remember what you did and treat you accordingly.
  • New beginning: Although this is a sequel set 36 years after the original games, it requires no prior knowledge of the previous titles, which are now over a decade old.
About the Developer: Bethesda Softworks
Best known for the epic The Elder Scrolls series of role-playing games, American developer and publisher Bethesda has created many other innovative games, including The Terminator: Future Shock--one of the first fully 3D first-person shooters--and a number of American sports sims.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Fun! 15 Nov 2008
Platform for Display:PLAYSTATION 3|Edition:Special Edition
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
This game has been anticipated around the globe for quite some time, when first shown at E3 a few years ago, it immediately became a must have for every Rpg fan and hardcore gamer out there. Firstly its a great game, cinematic, fantastic, and also very funny. Its a game that doesn't take it self to seriously. Set 200 years after the "bombs dropped" in a post nuclear fallout era with a very authentic retro 50's feel, the lucky few have managed to purchase slots in underground vault's. Eventually everyone emerged into the "Capitol Wasteland" after the nuclear devastation is over. Except one vault kept its doors closed and its inhabitants inside where it's is "safe" that vault is Vault 101. You are taken few the early stages from coming out of your mothers womb to your first steps to your 10 birthday to the rebellious age of sixteen, and then the real fun starts at the age of nineteen, you awake to find that your farther (Liam Neeson) the one constant in your life (after your mother dies giving birth to you) has denied the overseers (supreme administrator of individual vaults) authority and left into the barren badlands of the D.C wastelands for reasons unknown... After being pursued by the overseers men you too leave and search outside for your Dad and for answers

1.) Make your own choices, talk your way out or just blast them!

2.) Explore a retro futuristic 50's world however you want.

3.) The epitome of non - linear game play.

4.) "Live another life in another world"

5.) Own a home, find friends, make enemy's, where are your alliances?!

The special edition includes some damn fine swag!

....The game (of course)- freaking great!!!

.... A hard - back concept artbook - fine prints and interesting

5.0 out of 5 stars Well worth the wait 2 Nov 2008

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I've been a huge Fallout fan since the very first one came out over 10 years ago. I was nervous about Fallout 3 because i really don't like 1st person shooters but this triumph of a game is far better than i could have imagined. Fallout fans like me who have loved Fallout 1, 2 and Tactics will adore this game and people who are new to the games will be amazed too. It has everything and the collection edition lunchbox and extra are really cool.

Game of the Year!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars apocalyptic fun times 1 Feb 2009
Platform for Display:PLAYSTATION 3|Edition:Special Edition
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I brought this game with alot of skepticism, i had heard alot of good and bad reviews. The good reviews mainly came from amy RPG fan friends and the bad from non-rpg fans. Im not a big rpg fan but the story and the 5 minutes or so i saw of the game running on my mates PC had me sold, so i picked up the collectors tin, weird move considering i wasn't sure if id take to it or not.

But all i can say is this game has got me hooked, from the hiliarious opening "training" scene when u learn your basic controls while being a infant inside your vault home, up until when your in the wastelands just wandering about discovering locations, this game has so much to offer, the infiniate freedom of the game is what brings me back. dont like the quest your on? find another one... dont like the way that guy just sopke to you ... shoot him in hte head and steal his items or you could just play along with his rambings and u may get a better reward.

There really is so much to do with this game, if your just about the main quest you could probally finish the game in 10 hours but if your more into the exploring and fniding side missions there is at least 80 hours play in it.

The collectors editions comes in a fallout lunch box, which is also to be found in the game as one of the elements that makes up a bottlecap mine.as well as a Vault-tec bobblehead, which are also found in the game and a hardback art book containing concept art from the game and a making of dvd.

I fully recommend this game to any gamer who wants to be submerged in the world of the game. ITs relly not for quick fix gamers and possibly not for fans or linear shooters but id still say give it a try as there are alot of first person shooter elements

10/10
