I have put many, many, MANY hours into Fallout 3 and when I heard this was coming I was very pleased as I could soon waste many more hours!!
I installed the game which is approx 4 gigs, and pressed the start button....
The game starts showing a sequence involving your character and some nefarious gentlemen, then you wake up and it is a similar character creation to Fallout 3, you can choose your stats, you have a chat with a doctor and depending on your answers he will assign you Tag skills, you can choose your face shape, hair, colour etc... You can then start interacting with the doctor and so begins your quest into the wide world. Now, the engine is basically the same as Fallout 3, the scenery seems a little bit more detailed (might be as I have a different TV now?), and you are once again in the familiar desolate grounds of post war america. Now this may seem a bit of a swiss as they are using the same background as FO3, this said, you are playing the game more for the storyline and experience than kick ass graphics! You can equip your character with weapons found along the way, armour that is stolen or bought. You have the same skills that can be upgraded by leveling or by the use of a skill book - there are no bobbleheads! :*(

*note* After playing this game for a while now, I have found that you can find a medical clinic and that you can pay to have implants that will increase your attributes, give you some damage reduction and one that can give you health regeneration. Be warned, the stat boosts are 4,000 caps a pop, the damage reduction is 8,000 caps and the health regen is 12,000 caps. Plus! You can only have so many implants as you have points in Endurance.

This game is so entertaining and by far the best game I have played, however the game does have some bugs that need fixing, but nothing too serious!

5.0 out of 5 stars Collector's Edition 26 Nov 2012

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I bought mine on release date from GAME and paid significantly more than it is offered for here. So if you wished you got it at the time, this is an absolute steal of a price. I love the fallout series and have spent many hours playing the game. The PS3 version does have some freezing and framerate issues sadly, but you can work around these if you are patient and still enjoy the game. My personal tip is to save regularly and quit as soon as it starts to slow down, this way you avoid it freezing completely and do not lose too much progress. There are many reviews relating to the game itself in the standard edition's page, my guess is if you are here you are already a fallout fan and are wondering if the special edition is worth it. I personally think it is. It comes in a nice box which is not as big as some other collector's editions (I'm looking at you, Bioshock 2) and contains some nice goodies. The playing cards are particularly well done, each featuring a different character from the game, the poker chips and the platinum chip are sturdy and well made, the making of disc is standard stuff but worth a watch and my absolute favourite thing is the All Roads hardback graphic novel. It is thinner than I expected but beautifully drawn and an interesting bit of back story for the game. You also get some downloadable weapons and other in game stuff thrown in, which is a nice added bonus.

Some might argue that this stuff is pretty useless, but if you enjoy fallout and like collecting game merchandise then this is a nice set to have. I only wish it had been this reasonably priced when it was released!

The game in the box is the standard edition without the dlc missions. After I completed the game I traded the disc and got the ultimate edition so I could have all the dlc on one disc.

4.0 out of 5 stars Shoot, Hunt, Sleep, Kill, FREEZE 29 April 2012
Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
I am a HUGE fan of Fallout 3, it is one of my favourite games of all time and one of the PS3's best games.Whilst it had bugs and moments where the game would freeze, this was an occurence which never affeced me a great deal. HOWEVER, Fallout: New Vegas had so many bugs that it took away from the games enjoyability too much, and ruined the game for me. Don't get me wrong it is still a great game (and the collectors edition is a worthy purchase) but i lost 12 hours of data due too a 'corrupted save file' which led to me finding this games fun and frustrating in equal parts and as such, i havent touched it in months, where as i still play Fallout 3 regularly. A great game, which needed a few more months of testing.

3.0 out of 5 stars Fallout new vegas review 14 Oct 2012

Dunno what else to ask for in a game, lots to do, amazing game play. The reason i only game this game three stars is because of how bad the lag can be on console versions, and also because there can be a lot of game bugs in this game, such as missions not completing because you tried to do it in a certain way. Been playing this game since it came out now, and know about every combination in the game, how missions work, weapons, Armour etc. This is because it always draws you into playing it and you want to always go back and play more.
