Product Description
A very efficient, compact, sharpening stone. The DC4 is made by Fallkniven, who produce a serious range of knives and sharpening kit. The DC4 stone is a diamond/ceramic sharpening stone designed to be carried with you in the field within its leather carrying pouch. The diamond side comes in at 25 micron and the specially designed ceramic is made from synthetic saphire, enabling you to get a "shave sharp" edge on your knife. These materials performance actually improves with use and the stone will hold its shape which is vital for sharpening well.
We also like these stones as they can be used dry with no other form of lubrication, which makes them an efficient field stone. To sharpen your knife you can use a circular motion or a straight forward slicing motion, they come with full instructions.

"I have worked with sharp tools all of my proffesional career and one of the biggest issues you can face when working with tools is how to create, and then maintain, a sharp edge to work with. We use shave sharp knives and axes on our Woodland Ways courses as this decreases the chance of injury. If your knife is shave sharpe it will work better with the material you are working on, and if you are unfortunate enough to suffer a puncture wound, ok it will go straight down to the bone, but it will be a nice clean wound and so easier to treat and therefore heal. Therefore having a non lubricated field stone that is capeable of putting a shave sharp edge on to your tools available to us is perfect... dvantages: No lubrication is required, they can put a shave sharp edge on your knife, they are pocket sized, light, and we like the pouch it comes with to protect it.
Disadvantages: They are smaller than say a workshop stone which can be a little tricky to get used to but you wouldn't want to carry a workshop stone out into the woods!

Very nice stone with lovely leather case. Works well with smaller blades by holding it in place with a couple of nails on a plank of wood, or you can easily hold it in your hand to work on longer blades to make a razor sharp edge. I even used it to easily get my saber's 28" blade to a hair cutting, razor sharp finish. Works well with both straight and circular motions and dry use makes it very practical. Highly recommended!

This is one of my must have items when i disappear into the woods and coast where i live, i think the fact its so small is brilliant, i always leave it in my day pack just to keep that great edge on your knife, just remember this will not make a butter knife into a scalpel, this is for maintenance of a sharp edge, i heard someone complain on another website about that.
All in all brilliant, a must have companion to your knives if you plan on being out for a few days with alot of bushcraft or carving usage, also keep a good quality leather belt with you just to put that surgical edge on :-)

I really like this item. It leaves a much finer edge on my knives than the old carborundum stones I was accustomed to use. Furthermore I don't have to wet the stone before use since it is a diamond stone. I was particularly pleased that it came with a handy pouch.

Useful small stone
Nice little whetstone that can easily be carried in a pocket. Hasn't yet shown any signs of falling in half as other have mentioned.

Generally a good product
