Product Description

As we open up to life and love and each other, as we awaken from our dream of separation, we encounter not just the bliss of existence, but its pain too; not only life's ecstasy, but also its agony. Healing doesn’t always feel good or comfortable or even 'spiritual', for we are inevitably forced to confront our shadows, fears and deepest longings – those secret parts of ourselves that we have denied, repressed, or deemed 'negative' and unworthy of our love. How can we find the calm in the midst of the storm? How can we rest, even as the ground falls?

Falling In Love With Where You Are invites you to discover a deep YES to your life, no matter what you are going through; to see crisis as an opportunity to heal, pain as an intelligent messenger, and your imperfections as perfectly placed. Through his prose and poetry, Jeff Foster will guide, provoke, encourage and inspire you on your lonely, joyful, and sometimes exhausting pathless journey to the Home you never, ever left: the present moment.

"Even in your glorious imperfection," Jeff reminds us, "you were always a perfect expression of life, a beloved child of the universe, a complete work of art, unique in all the world..."

More About the Author

Jeff Foster studied Astrophysics at Cambridge University. In his mid-twenties, after a long period of depression and illness, he became addicted to the idea of 'spiritual enlightenment' and embarked on an intensive spiritual quest for the ultimate truth of existence.

The spiritual search came crashing down with the clear recognition of the non-dual nature of everything, and the discovery of the extraordinary in the ordinary. In the clarity of this seeing, life became what it always was: intimate, open, loving and spontaneous, and Jeff was left with a deep understanding of the root illusion behind all human suffering, and a love of the present moment.

He presently holds meetings, retreats and private one-to-one sessions around the world, gently but directly pointing people back to the deep acceptance inherent in the present moment. He helps people discover who they really are, beyond all thoughts and judgments about themselves, even in the midst of the stress and struggle of modern day living and intimate relationships.

Jeff's teaching style is direct and uncompromising and yet full of humanity, humor and compassion. He believes that freedom is everybody's birthright. He belongs to no tradition or lineage, and makes his teaching accessible to all.

Jeff was voted #51 in Watkins Mind Body Spirit's 2012 list of the world's 100 Most Spiritually Influential Living People. Jeff has published four books in over six languages. His latest book The Deepest Acceptance was published in 2012 by Sounds True.

5.0 out of 5 stars A True Gift 27 Feb 2014
By Sarah
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Many teachers can point to the essential clarity and simplicity of timeless non-dual reality but few so beautifully honour another truth as Jeff Foster does in this book; that to live this life as a human being is difficult and endlessly challenging.
A realisation of the one undivided true nature of life is of little use unless it is known not just as an idea but is also lived in our everyday experiences, and perhaps especially so in the painful ones that we would rather escape from.
Falling in Love with Where You Are is an exquisite mapping of the ever changing territory that we tread as humans, the joy, the ecstasy, even bliss at times, but also the pain, fear, loss and all the other ‘negative’ feelings we often try to ignore, and consider an aberration on the ‘spiritual’ path.
This is a guide to not avoiding the difficult terrain but instead to finding deep peace right in the midst of it. It depicts no step by step linear journey to a future ‘enlightenment’, rather an assurance that whatever the contours of the landscape before us, life in its deep perfection is unfolding and holds everything, light and dark, joy and pain, birth and death.
Jeff has written a truly refreshing book which debunks just about all of the common myths about spirituality and I sense it will become a true companion for many. For the joyful, the lonely, the weary and exhausted seeker, here is Home.

5.0 out of 5 stars Extraordinary 5 Feb 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Jeff Foster' s new book is destined to become a classic. I've read quite a lot of 'spiritual' stuff over the years. From Alan Watts to Krishnamurti, Jack Kornfield , Ram Dass and Adyashanti . Jeff Foster' s writing is as powerful as any. Somehow he is able to point to the ever present awareness beyond pain and life's ups and downs to embrace the transcendent and the numinous. A work filled with honesty and compassion.

5.0 out of 5 stars beautiful invitation to come back to my Self 27 Jun 2014
By gw
Format:Paperback
A lovely book to dip into with only a few minutes at hand. - a beautiful invitation to come back to your self :)

Short, yet profound sharing from everyday life situations. I love how Jeff has the ability to highlight the here and now in what he speaks about... and how it inevitably invites the reader to be with their here and now...

The texts vary in length form a few lines to 3 pages... so even with little time on hand, those little nuggets can have profound impact on the reader. (and if you have more time on hand, yes it is also brilliant cover to cover :)

4.0 out of 5 stars something different 26 April 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book is something different - compared to other spiritual books. You can't rush it ; has to be read slowly to get everything digested. I found it very interesting, thought provoking, mind boggling. It says to embrace everything in life, good and bad and treat all the importers the same, with love and acceptance. Also emphasises living in the present moment. Value NOW. It's a gem of a book as it makes you think outside the box.
