Product Description

From the #1 best selling author of A Sister's Gift; if you like Jodi Picoult, you will love this book.

A modern-day Romeo and Juliet with a twist, set over five days at Christmas.

18-yr old Rose’s life is devastated - as sole carer for her disabled father, her own dreams of pursuing a career or finding love are fast fading. In desperation, Rose borrows from pagan knowledge and casts a spell.

22-yr old Lawrence has been working as a paramedic in war-torn Sri Lanka. Compelled to return home, he’s suddenly a man on the run. Lawrence ends up sheltering near Rose’s family farm in Kent.

When a fierce snowstorm traps Rose in the same isolated ruin for 48 hours, the two meet and fall in love - the beguilingly gentle and handsome Lawrence is everything Rose has dreamed of but why does he keep warning her away? It turns out that like Romeo and Juliet, their families are bitter enemies. Lawrence also has a darker past and personally much more at stake than Rose knows.

As the thaw sets in, Rose is torn between a deep family loyalty to her father and her love for Lawrence. When Lawrence makes one last-ditched attempt to put things right for the woman he loves, he faces both a past - and a family - that threaten to destroy him. As the opportunity to pursue her own dreams suddenly open up for Rose, she discovers just how far she is prepared to go to keep him.

So beautiful... 21 Dec 2011
By lizm
Format:Kindle Edition
I could not wait for this book to be released and I am so glad to have not been disappointed! Not wanting to give too much away I will just say it is a beautiful story about how two people's lives become intertwined one Christmas. Rose and Lawrence are two very different people and from very different backgrounds, but both are haunted by events from the past and feel trapped in their current lives. The romance between the two main characters is just beautifully written and completely engrossing, but this book is so much more than just a love story. It will have you thinking about justice, fate, forgiveness and the nature of true love. One of those books that you can't put down and then want to read again immediately!

Winter Warmer 30 Dec 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
This touching tale of first love makes perfect winter reading, even when there's no snow on the ground outside. The atmospheric style draws you in to the worlds of Lawrence and Rose as Giselle Green expertly explores the complexities of human nature and love.

There are dark and difficult situations in both Rose and Lawrence's pasts but ultimately this an uplifting story of hope and redemption, beautifully told.

Truly intimate 9 Jan 2012
By Ricky
Format:Kindle Edition
What is true love? Surely it is more than superficial sentiment. What if you fall in love with someone only then to discover that you should hate them? Is love so fragile that it can be forgotten or pushed aside? Or can there be forgiveness and restitution? Can true love conquer all?
This book by Giselle Green explores all these issues and more. It grabs the reader and SLOWLY and GENTLY takes her on a journey of intimacy. The two protagonists are trapped in a snowbound location for two days. The pace of the story is deliberately and expertly varied, so that their feelings for one another are given room to breathe. The feelings are real and delicate, and reveal themselves realistically, from each character's viewpoint. The absence of distractions in the middle section of the book is something that some will no doubt find difficult. The realisations that Rose and Lawrence come to are painful in the extreme. For many, what happens in the ruin may be too much to bear. But if you do bear it, you will be rewarded with the most touching finale to a book and you will have to keep a box of tissues to your side. In the absence of such `outer-world' distractions, all that is left are two human beings in close and intimate contact. What develops is the most beautiful and sensuous first love. Beware, this book is not for those wanting superficial sentiment. It is not chick lit. It is intelligent women's fiction at its best. I cannot recommend it enough.
