The Fall, 6 Nov 2008
This review is from: The Fall (Paperback)
The chapters are short, which made for very easy reading of this racy novel. Very early on the story starts to twist into a tale of supernatural goings on with biblical references. Interesting little details lace through the narrative - showing extensive research and attention to detail by the author - eg. a reference to the constellation 'Cassiopeia'. I generally go for much slower paced books and I'm not generally a fan of the horror genre, but I enjoyed 'The Fall' particularly the 'Marvel Comic' style climax.

This book is amazing!!
I can't stress properly just how good this book is.
I am a huge horror sci/fi fan and the last time a book had me truly scared was Kings IT. That was until I got my hands on THE FALL. The author has an amazing knack for emersing you in the atmosphere of the story. He has the ability to make you weep, shiver and laugh on the same page. an absolute masterpiece. stephen king has competition! my advice: buy the book,Read the book and long for the sequel. Just like me.

Paretti's, 'This Present Darkness', meets 'Rosemary's Baby'!, 6 Nov 2008
This review is from: The Fall (Paperback)
This is a very gripping novel - keeps you fully engaged until the final page! I would describe it as, Frank Paretti's book, 'This Present Darkness', meets the film, 'Rosemary's Baby'! Darker, scarier, and more explicit than Paretti's books, the theology behind it may be open to dispute, but the story lacks nothing at all for that.
Michael is a sympathetic character. Awakening from a 20-year-old nightmare - which he has been persuaded by the medical profession to believe just a dream - he discovers that the demonic horror he witnessed happening to his new wife then, is about to happen all over again, to a young female rock singer.
There is plenty of action from cover to cover, (would make a great film!), and a 'learning curve' - not only for Michael, but for others in the cast of characters. The outcome is not predictable, either. And I will never view crows in the same way again!
