Ah, the fake sound of progress. Would you prefer the real sound of progress - the disruptive din of JCBs, pneumatic drills or the avantegarde clatter of Tricky's more challenging work? Along with A, Alien AntFarm, Hundred Reasons and (probably) Raging Speedhorn, these boys sound like they might be the UK's answer to the USA's whingeing Nu Metal pups - all short hair and goatees.
But wait! - there's more to this than the crude fusion of marketable street cred with that very specific brand of teen morose. The musical influences seem genuine and heartfelt. I'm getting jagged chunks of metal, I'm getting percussive, I'm getting rocked. If this doesn't make you want to reach for the nearest air guitar go see Doctor Rock.

you will love this album if you like the harder punk rock thats become popular in recent years. Most of the songs are true hits and although not melodic or joyful they are upbeat and make a change from the 'i want to kill myself' stuff you ususally hear from this sort of band. best songs - shinobi vs ninga dragon and a thousant apoligies.

When the original Need for Speed underground game came out, there was a song on it by Lostprophets:Ride. I loved it, it was on Start Something, loved the whole album so bought Fake sound of Progress. If you though Start Something was good, buy this, and LostProphets will be your favourite band forever, like they are mine

I don't know what the loser of the first review is on about because he obviousluy doesn't know anything about music in the slightest. This album remains consistently great all the way through... incidently, their second album (Start Something) is out of this world! It's awesome! Anyways... best songs are Shinobi Vs. Dragon Ninja, The Fake Sound Of Progress and Five Is A Four Letter Word. Buy this album if you've heard any song by the Lostprophets... you'll think ther're great- they are great live too!

This CD is so rubbish that I wish I never bought it. I found the 1st track so annoying that my teeth were grinding all the way through
