I ordered a pair of these from Orange Electronics. They are clearly fake. Not everyone can tell what quality sound should be like but for a definitive guide to whether yours are fake see http://fakeheadphones.com/definitive-fake-creative-ep830-review/08/2009/
I just bought [December/November 2011] another four pairs of Creative EP-830s direct from Amazon for £14ish as Doggebreth suggests and they seem to be genuine and absolutely identical to to the other three Creative EP-830 sets we bought a few years ago [only the display box is smaller, although this time a cute 'velvet pouch' was included]. Ours seem very reliable [old sets anyway] and solidly built, so it seems to me that some others have been sent fakes from resellers [who themselves might have been duped]. Our kids wind up all their headphones leads too tightly around their iPods which rogered my sons SkullCandy in-ear pair pretty pronto, however all these Creatives EP-830s seem fine so far, abuse and all - only lost one set [of about 8] to failure over the years.
Although at the moment Amazon don't have any [Jan 2012], check whether Amazon are listed under the 'used and new' link on the right of the listing: Creative EP-830 Noise Isolating Earphones (Black) The Creative logo is sloped along the top like the Photo of 'genuine' in Stephen's first post. We have teenage kids in the house, and my son's girlfriend wanted a reliable pair after her SkullCandy's packed in, hence buying these great value [at £13] Creatives 830s in bulk.
