I own log burning stoves and will often get free large tree logs (trunks) to reduce in size to fit stoves. I thought of spending slightly less on inferior mauls sold by Amazon but am very very glad i paid a little more for this one. Very well made and have chopped some trunks into c300 logs so far! I can't recommend this product highly enough - makes reducing the logs effortless (almost!). Definately made the right choice by following recommendations from previous customers for this product, over others on site. Great price also and is very well made. Trust me - once you've got your eye in on chopping the logs it can be quite addictive with this bit of kit! Definately recommend.

Faithfull Figlass Shaft Log Split Maul 8Lb
I was pleasantly surprised when my maul arrived within a 24 hrs of purchase despite my opting for a 2-4 day foc delivery.
I am new to logging but I have since split all of my logs with amazing ease. Once you get use to the 8lb weight it is simply a matter of improving accuracy to achieve excellent results. For average size logs you can just let the weight of the maul do the job and you only need to drop the head on the log to split efficiently.
The product does exactly what it was designed for and I am delighted with the purchase as it is well engineered and good value for money.

A Very well made tool, nicely finished and robust. It is a well balanaced tool in use and is heavy enough to do the work. You don't have to swing it too hard! There is a decided technique in using it.

Watch out if the head flies off!
My head broke clean away from the shaft. The head flew back and gave my wrist a nasty bash. No warning, no prior mistreatment, just working away on large beech rounds. Read more

I am man. I chop wood to make fire but wood to big for stove, use maul to make logs smaller.
