5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent - £10 very well spent 27 Mar 2012

This was purchased to re-drill the hinge holes on new kitchen unit doors for an integrated washing machine and tumble dryer where the hinge mountings holes on the appliances did not match up to those pre-drilled in the doors. It did an excellent job, no fuss or bother and more importantly no ruined expensive-to-replace doors. It was used on a pillar drill which prevented wobble and a trial run showed it was important to drill to the correct depth in one go rather than try to place the point back in the existing centre hole to drill deeper. So confident in it's performance that we plan to use it to custom make a couple of drawer fronts into hinged doors for odd sized units. Excellent product!

5.0 out of 5 stars Faithfull Bit 13 Dec 2011
By TB
The hinge boring bit came in its own little case. You need to indent your centre point and will need a steadying handle on your drill, it does try to wander, so plenty of pressure. It made short work of boring the hole, done when the black TC bit is flush. After use quick wipe down and looks as good as new, my reason for buying this TC type.

5.0 out of 5 stars Did the job 13 Mar 2011
By Mal
I'd bought a new integrated washing machine for the kitchen but the cupboard door wouldn't fit as the hinge hole was in the wrong place. I bought this to drill the blind hole to put the hinge into. It cut through the door easily and accurately - I'm not a brilliant DIYer but this bit made the job much easier than I imagined it would be. There were cheaper ones but I was worried it would cost me a lot more if I ruined the door - I also noted that some of them had a longer 'guide point' which I was worried would go through the door if I made the hole too deep.

Had some old flat pack kitchen cupboards that I thought I would 'recycle'by using the hinges. This cutter made a very smooth job of boring new holes without a problem. Highly recommended!

Had to cut a hole in my existing cabinet door because of new fridge.I have used hole cutters before with limited success.I used this cutter in a hand held drill and was able to control the cut and depth with ease i would recommend this tool even if you only have one hole to cut.

The FAI HBB35 TC cutters are well sharpened, correctly shaped with a centre-pip and a small riving tip on each end to ensure a clean cut, and nicely balanced for vibration-free use in a plunging router.

The bottom of the finished hole has only a small dimple of about 1.5mm from the centre-pip and about a 0.5mm peripheral groove from the riving tips. The shaft measures 8.0mm (0.315") in diameter, and not the 3/8" (0.375") shown on the packaging. Which means that this Trend 8mm-1/2" adaptor collet correctly fits it into my standard 1/2" router.

As a bonus mine came in a nice sturdy plastic box to protect it from damage (or causing it) while rattling around a tool box.

It has proved to be ideal for the job because the TC blade makes a very clean cut, with no signs of wear or blunting for the series of holes in my new solid wood cupboard doors, the last being as clean as the first and all the cut edges are completely free of splinters and burrs.
