Review

"A charming book with lovely recipes" (Lorraine Pascale)

"We've been checking out some fab baking and cookery books this month and one that's caught our eye is the upcoming Fairytale Food by Lucie Cash. If you love to cook and like the idea of a quirky recipe book, then read on!" (Trashionista)

"Fairytale Food is a real delight… There are lovely illustrations throughout the book, which will have the grandchildren fascinated" (Choice)

"Are you looking for a gift for someone who enjoys cooking and who has an interest in fairy tales? If so, this book could well be your perfect answer. It has over sixty recipes - none of them at all complex - and they're all associated with favourite fairy tales.... there are lavish illustrations by Yelena Bryksenkova of scenes from the tales and I didn't find a double page spread which didn't have some entertaining embellishment. It's also a bonus that there's a gentle humour in the illustrations... it could bring a smile (and something tasty to eat) to your lips - or those of someone who would love this as a present" (Bookbag)

"Recipes such as Princess and the Pea Soup should get your little ones excited for dinner" (Sunday Times)

Book Description

Packed with over sixty simple recipes and divided into fifteen chapters, each inspired by a different fairytale and with a lavish full-colour full-page illustration, this cookbook is perfect for anyone who wants to add a little magic to their cooking.

This is such a beautiful collection of simple and very tasty recipes.

Each chapter is themed around a separate fairy tale and has gorgeous illustrations throughout.
The recipes themselves are all straight forward and nicely varied with everything from delicious cakes and sweet treats to big tasty stews.

A lovely cook book with a difference!

I bought this book for my sister in law for her birthday. She and my brother love cooking, and especially with small kids, adding a story to their food makes it go down so much quicker.
Thanks Lucie!

My daughter gave me this for Mothers Day - such an enchanting gift and a really lovely book. Being a lover of fairy tales and also of cooking this book was an ideal present for me - clever daughter to find it. The illustrations are truly beautiful - I really love the pictures of Snow White and Sleeping Beauty. The recipes all seem fairly simple - nothing too complicated and nothing that needs expensive, hard to get ingredients. My granddaughter loved it too - she has plans to make the `Bad Fairy' cakes next time she visits!

I absolutely love this book. The illustrations are gorgeous and the little stories that go along with the recipes are funny and a little bit quirky.
I've tried at least ten of the recipes so far and have loved all of them - the Good Fairy cakes are absolutely delicious and the Three Little Pigs in Blankets are a real hearty feast. There is a recipe and story for everyone and for every occassion.
I can't recommend this book highly enough!

This is a refreshing antidote to the reams of celebrity chef books out there. For a start, it's beautifully illustrated and utterly original. What a lovely way to visit recipes, guided by the rather mischievous imagination of the author, interacting with our most loved fairytale characters.

Cutesy and twee it certainly isn't though. I chuckled out loud reading the introduction to "Tinkerbell's Trifle" that describes a small blonde diva who can't handle her drink. And the rather mouthwatering Red Riding Hood's meringue Basket provides an alternative and amusing explanation for her ill-fated adventures.

This is a brilliant gift for anyone who loves their cooking sprinkled with a sense of whimsical humour, and I'd also recommend it for teenage girls (who hopefully won't see tipsy Tinks as a role model!).

I initially bought Fairy Tale food as a present for a friend's birthday. Once I'd sneakily read it and wrapped it, I instantly regretted it. So ordered another one for myself! Which means Princess and the Pea Soup and Captain Hook's Fish Pie are now firm family favourites in our house.

This is a book over which a lot of care has been taken. It looks amazing, not only on the pages that are solely illustrative, but also throughout the book. The recipes are varied and inspiring whilst the text is truly enchanting.
