Book Description

1 Mar 2012

If you fancy tucking into a steaming hot bowl of Princess & the Pea Soup, curling up by the fire with a cup of tea and a slab of Hansel & Gretel's House Gingerbread or tickling your taste-buds with a dollop of Tinkerbell's Trifle, then Fairytale Food is for you ...

... Once upon a time, a young(-ish) maiden decided she was fed up with cooking the same old beans on toast and pasta bakes every night; she longed for some magic in her cooking. So she left her cosy cottage (flat in West London), pen and paper in hand and set off to find inspiration in the land of fairytales. For months and months she toiled visiting our best-loved characters; some were wonderfully sweet and generous, others were a bit grumpy and a little scary, but they all gave her ideas, tips and the confidence to create her very own delicious recipes.

Put a bit of magic into your cooking with these recipes inspired by some of our most-loved fairytales.

Review

A charming book with lovely recipes (Lorraine Pascale )

We've been checking out some fab baking and cookery books this month and one that's caught our eye is the upcoming Fairytale Food by Lucie Cash. If you love to cook and like the idea of a quirky recipe book, then read on! (Trashionista )

Fairytale Food is a real delight. There are lovely illustrations throughout the book, which will have the grandchildren fascinated (Choice )

Are you looking for a gift for someone who enjoys cooking and who has an interest in fairy tales? If so, this book could well be your perfect answer. It has over sixty recipes - none of them at all complex - and they're all associated with favourite fairy tales.... there are lavish illustrations by Yelena Bryksenkova of scenes from the tales and I didn't find a double page spread which didn't have some entertaining embellishment. It's also a bonus that there's a gentle humour in the illustrations... it could bring a smile (and something tasty to eat) to your lips - or those of someone who would love this as a present (Bookbag )

Recipes such as Princess and the Pea Soup should get your little ones excited for dinner (Sunday Times )

Book Description

Packed with over sixty simple recipes and divided into fifteen chapters, each inspired by a different fairytale and with a lavish full-colour full-page illustration, this cookbook is perfect for anyone who wants to add a little magic to their cooking.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Gift Ever 25 April 2012
Format:Hardcover
I bought this book for my sister in law for her birthday. She and my brother love cooking, and especially with small kids, adding a story to their food makes it go down so much quicker.
Thanks Lucie!

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful book, tasty recipes 6 Mar 2012
Format:Hardcover
This is such a beautiful collection of simple and very tasty recipes.

Each chapter is themed around a separate fairy tale and has gorgeous illustrations throughout.
The recipes themselves are all straight forward and nicely varied with everything from delicious cakes and sweet treats to big tasty stews.

A lovely cook book with a difference!
