Product Description

Across the Fiore kingdom, wizards join guilds and make their pay by filling magical needs - but one guild has a reputation as the roughest, rowdiest, most dangerous of all: Fairy Tail! In the midst of a mission to break the curse over Galuna Island, Natsu and the gang face a band of deranged mages trying to resurrect the monstrous demon Deliora. Gray's determined to put the freeze on the sinister plan in a frigid battle with a rival from his past - even if it takes his own life! Back in Magnolia, the city becomes a warzone after sorcerers known as Element 4 destroy Fairy Tail headquarters and kidnap their beloved rookie, Lucy. A bone-crunching, skin-charring fight between fire and iron erupts when Natsu squares off against another Dragon Slayer wizard!

Following on from the previous volume.

Contains Episodes 25-36
Audio: English/Japanese
Subtitles: English
Region: 2

The first half dozen episodes in this volume conclude the Phantom Lord arc. By now the battle with Phantom Lord is well under way with the members of Fairy Tail tasked with defending their guild, and rescueing Lucy from the Iron Dragon Slayer Gajeel, revelations are revealed when each Element 4 member is defeated, and the Abyss Break spell starts to slow, assuming once all 4 members of the Element 4 are defeated the guild members are resolved in their battles to win to save both the guild and Hargeon.

I admire the way the members of Fairy Tail value each other and their worth in the guild. You'l learn in this volume that when one of their own is threatened they will stop at nothing to help their friends. This time it's Lucy.

Lucy, although a strong character finds herself at the center of this arc, and her importance and family issues come into the forefront of this arc.

Featuring lots of action, with Natsu and Gray as well as Mirajane, Erza and other members give it their all.

Following from this arc is the 3 episode Loki/Loke arc, in this arc Lokis backstory and purpose in this anime is finally revealed, featuring lots of drama and emotion this leads perfectly into the next arc.

The last few episodes on this boxset start the 'Tower of Heaven' arc. This arc is more focused on Erza and many things in her past that come back to haunt her.

Fairy Tail is a very good series and this boxset does not disappoint.

4.0 out of 5 stars Phantom Lord, Loke & the Tower of Heaven 26 July 2012

This third collection of twelve episodes from the 'Fairy Tail' anime is another fun instalment of the series. The episodes of this collection cover three arcs of the series concluding the Phantom Lord arc before moving on to the Loke arc and then finely, beginning the Tower of Heaven arc.

The first five episodes of the collection see the battle between Phantom Lord and Fairy Tail come to a close as Natsu and his friends' battle against the remaining Element Four and the guild master Jose. The Phantom Lord arc is a nice one that includes some nice battles as well as some nicely emotional moments. The arc also gives us some nice information on Lucy's background. The adaption from the manga is handled reasonably well with only a few changes, and the addition of a few minor characters. Having said this though I do think the battle between Grey and Juvia was handled better manga but the anime does make up for this with the battle between Natsu and Gajeel.

The following episode is something of a breather and is an expansion on one of the chapters of the manga with the main characters hired to help out at a failing theatre. This is a light episode that was handled far better in manga but is still relatively entertaining, the addition of characters from previous arcs turning up to watch the performance was amusing.

The next two episodes focus on Loke, the playboy wizard who has trouble with Celestial Wizards. This is quite a nice short story that has some nicely emotional moments when we learn the truth about Loke's past. It is gives us a chance to see all of Lucy's Celestial Spirits, even if it is only briefly.

The final four episodes of the collection begin the Tower of Heaven arc. This storyline sees Erza kidnaped by some of her old friends so she can be sacrificed in a ritual to revive a dark wizard. This arc is one of the better ones of the series and one that delves into Erza's past as it comes back to haunt her. The arc has some nice action and comedy while Erza's past itself is quite tragic. The arc introduces a number of new characters and while some of them are slightly silly, there are some who are quite interesting.

The English dub of the series remains very good with most of the voices suiting the characters quite well (the original Japanese is also included obviously). The animation is relatively good for most of the episodes in this collection, although there are some minor moments where the quality dips slightly. Overall this was another very entertaining instalment of the 'Fairy Tail' anime and, while it isn't as good as the original manga, it definitely deserves a solid four stars.
