When I first heard of this series instantly thought that we had another long series-like Naruto, Bleach, Dragon Ball, etc-and thought that it would purely be a kid's show based on the PG rating. This is one of those times when you shouldn't really judge something based on what it looks like. If you like anime then you must already know what you're in for, but with Fairy Tail it's something a little different. This is a show that kids of around 10 could watch, but it still contains things that any anime fan would get a kick out of. Such as some innuendo's within jokes, over the top action, etc. So, the question is is this a good anime? There may not be much blood or swearing but is it watchable? Is it worth the watch based on what people say? I will honestly say now that yes it is.

STORY
In the kingdom of Fiore wizards band together in guilds and take on assignments from people that are willing to put forward a reasonable reward for completing these assignments; one guild in particular is known to be one of the best guild's in the kingdom, and that guild is called Fairy Tail. Lucy Heartfilia is a seventeen year old girl who has run away from home and wants to join a guild. On her journey she meets Natsu, a wizard who can eat fire. They band together, ready to take on any challenge that awaits them at Fairy Tail.
Since this is an ongoing series it is split into story arcs. Season 1 contains the first three or four story arcs which are okay. They all introduce characters well, and make everything interesting enough for you to want to continue watching to find out what happens next. There are some episodes that are a little stupid, like an episode that involves mushrooms, but then there are some that are humorous, like an episode that involves people switching bodies.

Let me put it bluntly. The attitude and ambiance of Fairy Tail, as well as their awesome care and cameraderie got to me in a way I never thought possible. That was from reading the manga. When a friend passed away, it was a no brained to get the logo tattooed onto my arm. Seeing my favourite characters on screen was wonderful, and as you watch more and more and learn about them more and more, their sadness, happiness and laughter become to mean more for you, and thus take form. OK, sounds creepy I know. But give it a shot. Natsu and his friends will stay with me forever, like some of my favourite characters from my favourite novels.
