While trying to warn the Exceed of their impending doom, Wendy and Carla are confronted by the Exceed Queen Chagot who decides that it is time her people learn the truth about herself and the world of the Exceed. Together with the help of the Exceed, the Fairy Tail wizards manage to delay the destruction of the Earthland Lacrima long enough for unexpected aid to arrive but things are still in a dangerous situation as the Royal Army attacks and the king himself takes to the field in the powerful Doroma Anim.

This twenty-third volume of the 'Fairy Tail' manga is another entertaining instalment of the series that includes some great battles and some nice humour. The Dragon Slayers going up against the king in the Doroma Anim is very entertaining and it is nice to see Natsu, Wendy and Gajeel fight something draconic for once. The fight between Erza and Erza is also very nicely done even if it does have some clichéd moments to it. The plot of the volume is also relatively nicely done with some interesting moments and a good climax.

The volume includes the usual Q&A, fan art and Afterword extras along with some notes on the various Exceed characters and some concept drawings. There are no translation notes however.

This volume was very good and is a good way to start to bring the Edolas arc to an end and it is worth a good five stars.
