Product Description

Book Description

Life’s a confusion according to Grandpa, and JP agrees. As soon as something goes right, fate casts a sour spell. He makes a friend who disappoints him, falls prey to bullies, and is embarrassed by his family’s poverty. These unpleasant experiences force him to find escape in the few films he sees, the books he reads, and the made-up stories he tells his sister. JP’s life takes a turn for the better when he befriends Mr Baradach who helps him understand that it’s possible to influence events – that all it takes is a clear mind and a little courage. This, as well as a new friend and a new class teacher, changes everything and fills him with hope and optimism for the future.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Age of Innocence, 11 Oct 2007

This review is from: Fairy Stories Do Sometimes Come True (Paperback)
This book is a snapshot of life in a country which has sadly been destroyed. Even though it takes place in the past, it still rings true today, no matter where you live. JP, like most children (and adults) is a young boy struggling to make sense of life. It is fascinating to live through his 'confusion' and see him gradually grow and evolve. This book is suitable for adults and children - beautifully written and very engaging.
