Julianne Regan formed All About Eve with guitarist Tim Bricheno in 1985. Bass player Andy Cousin was soon recruited. After a few singles and tours supporting The Mission and The Shamen, they finally hit the album charts with their self-titled first album in 1988, and went top ten with the single "Martha's Harbour".
Following their second album "Scarlet (And Other Stories)", Bricheno left to be replaced by Marty Willson-Piper who is also a member of 'The Church'. After two more albums the band split in 1992, and the members have since been involved in many different musical projects.

In 2000 All About Eve played a series of acoustic shows which delighted audiences, and it is from these that the new release, "Fairy Light Nights Two", is taken. Julianne, Andy and Marty perform stripped-down versions of some of their best songs such as "More Than The Blues" and "Wild Hearted Woman", proving that there was always more to the band than the "goth" tag they were frequently saddled with.

Although the band have not committed themselves to a fully-fledged reformation, they clearly enjoyed the tour and have further "unplugged" shows planned.

Got my copy early at a gig! Following on from FLN One, more great versions of old favourites from the current tour, from Scarlet to Every Angel (hardly believable that it's only an acoustic guitar and a bass!) Only regret is that there's none of the between-song banter that makes the gigs (and the first live disc) such fun

A delightful live acoustic album 9 Jan 2012

I have to confess I am not all familiar with All About Eve. I came across Fairy Light Nights 2 at my local record store last year. I finally decided to get it on a whim because I always saw it in the cd bins collecting dust (literally). I am so glad that I did. I felt like I was in the audience throughout the album. The music takes front and center stage. The noise from the audience is minium. Production is minimum at best. I love the music. The songs are short and sweet. I felt like I was listening to The Church but with female vocals. After hearing this album, I definitely plan on getting the first volume as well as the band's other albums (or at least try to). I wish I discovered the band sooner though.
