Product Description

Fantastic functional item that normally starts off as a novelty item. The rounded base allows the glass to rock, but will never spill no matter how full. If it does not work I will be happy to refund you. Believe me it is great, and fun to! Also great for outdoors as well. Place it on the grass and it will not fall over, and have nowhere to fall. Ngwenya Glass products are uniquely packaged including a product information card describing the Ethical Nature of the product as being Fairtrade and recycled. Also only 100% recycled packaging is used which includes a plain brown recycled box with branding and inside we only use recycle newspaper protective packaging from Swaziland, so you get a bit of a historic time capsule included for FREE, opposed to boring eco unfriendly bubble wrap.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful 17 July 2012
Verified Purchase
Absolutely beautiful glasses, larger than I imagined, and very quirky. They are very nicely packaged in a recycled box with recycled newspaper with the Information printed on the box. They come with a little card telling you the name of the person who made the glasses and a tag to say that my glasses started their life as a wine bottle.

They stand very well and rock gently, you would be hard pushed to knock them over and spill unless you were filling them right up, which you shouldn't really be!

I cannot understand the comments from people complaining about the green tint or the bubbles, or the fact that they're not in some fancy presentation box, these are fair trade and recycled, supporting an African community.

Will attempt to attach some photos with the glasses next to the box and a drink can for size comparison.

I would highly recommend the glasses, the feel solid, are definitely a talking point, the stand a little crooked when they are not rocking and I imagine every one of them is unique in its own way.

Perfectly good gift for anyone with an appreciation for recycling and fair trade and you would have to be fairly pretentious to think these are either poor quality or not well presented. Read the description.

TL;DR
Quirky, green tinted, fair trade glasses from recycled wine bottle, some bubbles in the glass, stand crooked, round weighted bottom so they rock (back and forth) wrapped in Swaziland newspapers in a recycled box. Absolutely beautiful.

Lovely Lovely Lovely. Get a pair but keep the box to store them in as they really are round and very thin glass so take are when washing

4.0 out of 5 stars Unusual, but I think I like these! 17 Dec 2010
Really unusual design. They look like they should tip, but like the weeble toys I had as a kid, they wobble but they don't fall down. One glass has a few tiny air bubbles in the bottom, but I think that just adds to their charm. They are a decent weight, not so thin as to be easily broken, and arrived securely boxed, wrapped in several layers of newspaper (very green!) and a layer of bubble wrap.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great quality and story behind the product 15 Mar 2013

The glass is solid and has a lovely very subtle green hue to the it (due to their recycled nature). The glasses are a lovely shape and the 'wobble' is great - really unique. The story behind them - that they are made by hand in Swaziland adds much more interest to the product and the packing has a nice card inside that tells you the story. They are wrapped solidly in newspaper in a card box with the brand stamped onto it - I like this because it adds to the authentic hand-made nature of the product. These are beautiful glasses.

4.0 out of 5 stars Wobbly like me 4 Feb 2013

I like these glasses a lot. They are a bit wobbly but haven't fallen over yet and they are very sturdy to hold which makes warming brandy up a lot easier (for the little time that it spends in the glass...). Good buy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great gift! 2 July 2011
By Kat C

Bought these as a gift and I'm not disappointed, neither was the recipient of the gift. They are a lovely quirky gift, they don't spill and are not too fragile. It is obvious they are recycled glass and have a slight green tinge to them which isn't very obvious in the picture. They also have small air bubbles in the glass which add to the lovely look of these glasses.

Really unusual. You think they are going to tip over, but they don't. They were a Christmas gift for my husband. He loves them.

2.0 out of 5 stars first thoughts on . . .
They need alot more weight at the bottom of the glass to stablize them in the up right position , they lean over slightly when empty and as you fill them up they tilt off centre
