Product Description

This is an eBook 'boxed set' that includes all three volumes of A Fair Prospect.

Inspired by Jane Austen's Pride & Prejudice, A Fair Prospect is a tale of Darcy and Elizabeth.

Nursing his wounds after his rejection by Miss Elizabeth Bennet, Fitzwilliam Darcy returns to London, a devastated and humbled man. The lady, meanwhile, is battling the unprecedented feelings stirred by having endured an innocent but intimate encounter with the gentleman in the aftermath of his proposal. Soon on her way to Town herself for an unanticipated stay, she is comforted by the presence of an old family friend, one Nicholas Harington – the son of a wealthy family whose position in society rivals that of the Darcys of Pemberley.

Circumstance soon throws Darcy back into Elizabeth’s company, much to their mutual consternation, and also introduces him to Harington who has emerged as a potential suitor for Elizabeth.

With his friend, Bingley, now in hot pursuit of Elizabeth’s sister, Darcy finds his best endeavours to relieve the lady of his unwelcome presence come to naught. As the encounters continue, they seem to be developing a better appreciation of each other, but is there any future for them in the face of their previous misunderstandings, and what of Harington, the man who is deemed by all a fair prospect for Elizabeth’s hand?

More About the Author

A fan of Jane Austen since having to study Pride & Prejudice for her English Literature O Level in 1978, Cassandra has been indulging her passion for all things Austen for many years. Having long wanted to be a writer, the two came together in recent years, and she is now publishing her endeavours in the hope that readers will enjoy delving into her stories as much as she enjoyed creating them.

A former college lecturer (and more recently a PA) she is British born and bred (though she did live in the USA for five years). Cassandra has two grown up children and splits her time between Rafz in Switzerland, where she lives with her husband, and Regency England, where she lives with her characters.

5.0 out of 5 stars A guilty pleasure 8 July 2014
By Mims
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
If, like me, your guilty pleasure is reading P&P spin-offs, then this one should satisfy in so many ways. We so LONG for more of Elizabeth and Darcy, and some of the dialogue between them in this book is positively exquisite. The story is very romantic, naturally, and the research obvious. I loved the gentle pace throughout, and the moral standards of the times are maintained, thank goodness; no steamy clinches here, or I, for one, would have stopped reading. My only gripe was the regular use of the words "huff" and "grunt". Surely there must be alternative expressions which are slightly more elegant? That being said, I am more than happy to recommend all three volumes of A Fair Prospect to anyone who is happy to ask the question "What if......?"

5.0 out of 5 stars Super undertaking, loved this book 19 April 2014

I can only be impressed with Ms Grafton's massive undertaking in this retelling. I don't think any review would be high enough for her simply out of respect for the amount of time this lengthy work must have taken her. There are so many things I like about her book. First there is loads of Darcy and Elizabeth 'screen time' which is very gently written with a lot of emotion. Georgiana is super in this and she has given Anne de Bourgh a developing personality in a believable way; Anne's letter to Georgiana was terrific. Colonel Fitzwilliam provided many laugh out loud moments throughout the books. And Ms Grafton's captured Elizabeth and Darcy very well! I hope she's inspired to write more.
Thank you for writing this!

5.0 out of 5 stars My Favourite P & P Variation to date 2 Mar 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I've had the first volume of this series sitting in my wish list for some time, but when it came out as a box set I thought it was too good an offer to miss. And I'm so pleased that I went for it as it has given me hours of reading pleasure.

I think the author has a deep understanding of both Darcy and Elizabeth, and has written them superbly. I noticed that some have said (on Amazon.com) that the last volume was a little slow, but I didn't find that in the least, and I probably enjoyed it most of all, especially the reward at the end when the misunderstandings are cleared up and they finally get together.

I really hope that there is more P & P magic to come from this author.

On a further note, I really loved the book cover too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant read. 20 Feb 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I have a read a few P&P variations now all have been fairly disappointing - however - reading the other reviews on here persuaded me to give it a chance.

I am very glad I did - it is a great read, the writing style is very true and the story is not over exaggerated.

I became totally engrossed very quickly. Would recommend.
