As a child psychiatrist, I refer parents to this book on a regular basis. It really helps you follow your parenting intuition, instead of feeling compelled to "control" your child the way you may feel pressured to do. The interventions are intuitive, and give you real control. Learn to use phrases like "end of discussion" to really end the discussion--leaving you with more time and energy to enjoy your time with your children. I consistently receive positive feedback from the parents that I work with who read this book.
When I am struggling as a parent, I will often pick up this book to re-read it as a refresher course in the battles I encounter with my own child!
An easy read, you may find yourself enjoying the anecdotes and personal experiences of the author; you may enjoy it enough to finish it in one read!
If you have a teenager, you're sure to enjoy this and Wolf's "Get out of my life! But first could you drive me and Cheryl to the mall?"
