DVD Description

Faintheart is a romantic comedy set in the world of battle re-enactments. Richard is a weekend warrior who sets out on an epic quest to win back his wife after she leaves him, branding him childish and irresponsible.

The film stars Eddie Marsan (Miami Vice, Vera Drake, Happy-Go-Lucky), Ewan Bremner (Hallam Foe, Trainspotting) and Jessica Hynes (formerly Stevenson – Spaced, Shaun of the Dead)

Product Description

FAINTHEART is the result of MyMovieMashUp, the ground-breaking initiative by MySpace, Vertigo Films and Film4 that sought to harness the collective creativity of the world s largest online community. Set in the world of battle re-enactments, FAINTHEART is a comedy that charts the epic quest of Viking Warrior Readmund the Just, aka Richard the sales assistant (Eddie Marsan), as he attempts to win back the love of his long suffering wife Cath (Jessica Hynes). Tired of Richard s all-consuming obsession with his Iron-age alter ego, Cath kicks him out of their home and into the real world. His honour is put in further peril when Cath begins seeing Martin s PE teacher Gary (Paul Nicholls). Realising he must finally face up to the challenges of the present day and fatherly responsibility, Richard enlists the help of best friend and Trekkie , Julian (Ewen Bremner). Together with Julian and a merry band of assorted geeks known as the Bloody Broadswords , Richard must summon all of his Norse courage to discover the real warrior within.

4.0 out of 5 stars Beat the weather and credit crunch blues, 4 Feb 2009

We went to see this in the cinema on a cold dark evening during the recession. We came out feeling happy. The whole audience laughed together and much of the comedy was worked around things that could easily happen to ordinary people.

We were glad we saw it in widescreen before we ordered the DVD, because the views of the castle and surrounding countryside drew you in as a bonus. We enjoyed the soundtrack too as it really supported the emotional journey so we have ordered that too. Cheer yourself up with this film.Faintheart [2008]

5.0 out of 5 stars Marvelous, 22 Mar 2009
This review is from: Faintheart [DVD] [2008] (DVD)
Really enjoyed this.As we are a reenactor family, my kids both found someone to relate to in it, and wanted to watch it again the next day.
Gentle, funny and a bit too true in places, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the writing. Some well known faces and a new leading man made it very watchable.

4.0 out of 5 stars Gentle Fun, 2 Feb 2009

A pity this film has not had a wider release, but worth an evening in to watch on DVD. Gentle `fun poking` at those who are dedicated to re-enactment, or similar pastimes, and the gentle humour has a feel good factor. Locations in Ludlow and Worcester well used. DVD`extras` disappointing, but for location watchers, Ludlow is easy to find! Actors really up to scratch, although the Store Manager, recruited through the My Space element of the film is a little too cheesy.
