Product Description

Review

Praise for ‘Wicked Lovely’:
“Marr offers readers a fully imagined faery world that runs alongside an everyday world, which even non-fantasy (or faerie) lovers will want to delve into.” Publisher’s Weekly

“The fantasy of being pursued by two young men is alluring in itself, but when one is a pierced and tattooed sexy outsider and the other is a blindingly beautiful King of Faery, how much better can it get? Readers will beg for a sequel.” Washington Post

"This is a magical novel… the first book in a trilogy that will guarantee to have you itching for the next instalment. * * * *" Bliss

I loved this collection of short stories. There are stories relating to the Wicked Lovely series as well as some brilliant stand alone stories. Unfortunately, I still want to read more about the Wicked Lovely characters, so am sad to see a definite end to the stories. A great read and would highly recommend to anyone who fell in love with the Wicked Lovely Saga.

I am a huge fan of Melissa Marr, so when I seen Faery Tales and Nightmares I couldn't wait to get my grubby paws on it. I was definitely not disappointed, Mellissa Marr always writes compellingly. If you are a fan of the Wicked Lovely series then you really need to pick up this fantastic book.

Faery Tales and Nightmares is a collection of short stories that Melissa Marr has written over time and decided to put them all together in one book. I'm not going to go through and tell you about them all, because that would just spoil all the fun. So I will tell you about some of my favourites.

OLD HABITS: This comes after Ink Exchange, when Irial gives up the throne to the new Dark king, Niall. We get to read about Niall adjusting to his new role as king, with the help of Irial, who still won't reveal his secrets to Niall. I love Niall and Irial's strange yet beautiful relationship, so seeing them bonding and healing their relationship together was really amazing. There is also mentions of Sorcha (The High Queen), Devlin and when they first set their sights on Seth. What a treat to get this story of my two favourite characters in the Wicked Lovely series, Niall and Irial.

STOPPING TIME: This comes after Fragile Eternity, Leslie has asked both Niall & Irial to leave her alone and give her some space. Irial shows up in a coffee shop that Leslie goes to every week and while they don't speak, Leslie knows he is there and it is reassuring. She speaks to Niall on the phone but doesn't see him, so she sees one and speaks to the other. Leslie is in danger so Irial and Niall come to the rescue, Leslie loves them both and while she is grateful for the protection from the Dark Court, she won't be with either of them.

I would highly recommend this book for readers who have read Melissa Marr's `The Wicked Lovely' series (a compilation of five books), as many favorite characters within the series is included in these stories. Together with exciting accounts of new characters for you to either fear or fall in love with, this supremely sublime book contains a concoction of old and new. Dangerous promises and beguiling threats swirl together in a dozen stories of enchantments, dark and light. Uncanny and unexpected creatures appear from behind bushes, rise from under the seas or manifest from seasonal storms to pursue the objects of their attention - with amorous or sinister intent - relentlessly. These twelve fresh, original tales beautifully blend supernatural fantasy with intoxicating, impassioned romance amid spinechilling horror that is delicately interwoven.

From the heart-pounding intensity of fervent passion to the ice-cold, shivers that run down your spine these delightful, readable tales will have you sat on the edge of your seat in suspense. Encapsulating all that I love within the Young Adult genre, this well-balanced book includes an exquisite blend of fantasy and vividly creative imagination, teenage romance and fast-paced, thrilling action with such concentrated momentum and substance.

In `Winters Kiss' you are transported back in time into a historical masterpiece, where acutely ancient detail is captured perfectly as remicent of Medieval times with a magical blend. In contrast `Transition' oozes a classy, contemporary twist in which you can instantly connect with its distinctly modern feel. `Love Struck' akin to the Twilight Saga or other mesmerizing teenage romances, had me entranced by the characters and lost within their poignant story.

If you are a fan of the Wicked Lovely series and have been having withdrawal symptoms since the series finished then buy this book. It is actually a set of stories and not all them related to Irial, Niall, Keenan, Aislinn and Co. There are other lovely stories in it as well and some even appear to me to have distinctly moralistic endings to them.

It is only a very short book and it took me about an hour to read but it was worth it if only to meet with the UnSeelie Court Kings again.

Miss Marr, please write some more about Irial, Niall I miss them terribly ;-(
