From the Label

Based on the Isle of Skye, the Peatbog Faeries released their debut album Mellowosity in 1996 to critical acclaim. Since then they have toured extensively and are in great demand at festivals around the world. This is high octane Celtic dance music which incorporates many musical influences, from traditional jigs and reels through to jazz, hip-hop and reggae.

Heard two tracks on the BBC, and was hooked. Peatbog Faeries produce a truly infectious, pumping sound of pipes and whistles and electric goodies, with a fine bass and percussion background to keep things moving. I prefer the faster-paced stuff on Faerie Stories over their earlier album, and indeed I think this cd is perhaps the best in the genre- Celtic-techno-funk or whatever it should be called! Rolling down one's windows in South Mississippi with booming roiling bagpipes is also a great thrill (surpisingly, this sort of music is rarely heard down here...)

Especially following the dramas in getting it released...

I actually have BOTH versions, as I bought the small pressing the band had made while they were between record companies, as well as the 'official' release.

More dancy than Mellowosity, but still with that solid folk roots under there.

Still loving it.

This album along with all the other Peatbog Faeries masterpieces allows the individual to fall into an imaginary dream world of highland mists, pure white sands, happy island people, vast open spaces and the beautiful birthplace and homeland of Flora MacDonad. Having had the pleasure of seeing this group playing live, having the honour of being present when such fantasticly talented musicians are bringing to life a wonderful Gaelic atmosphere directly into my home, can only be compared with the overwhelming thrill of a win on the lottery. The haunting sounds of the flute, the "skirl o' the pipes leaves the individual in no doubt that what they are listening to is coming directly from the Gaelic heartland, from musicians who care about what they produce, every offering an absolute gem
