Finding your soul mate is the ultimate dream come true. But for Samara Marshall, it's a matter of life and death. . .

After falling for a Cambion and then turning into one herself, Samara never thought her senior year could get more complicated. The gaps in her memory, the mysterious deaths, and the constant danger that threaten her once quiet town have a common thread: Tobias, a demon with a lot of enemies. He's also Samara's other soul mate and he's suddenly disappeared.

Samara knows the key to finding Tobias lies with her inner demon, who has her own agenda and threatens to take over completely. But Samara isn't the only one who wants to find Tobias. His enemies are getting closer, and their plans for retribution could mean deadly consequences for Samara and her true soul mate, Caleb. . ..

5.0 out of 5 stars A fantastic read 10 Jan 2014

I am a fan of this series and I am pleased to say that this final instalment exceeded my expectations. It is a fun read. The best thing about it for me is the humour - something I have not come across in many YA fantasy novels and something that is not easy to achieve. I would say the thing that makes Jaime Reed stand out as a YA fiction author is her skill at weaving humour into a plot; I marvel at the way she effortlessly combines laugh-out-loud moments with tension, poignancy and even intimacy.

Both Sam and Caleb are such likeable characters and they are great together. Caleb does not behave like a fictional boyfriend but a real one (aside from the sentient inside him, naturally). For example, Caleb is not a morning person and so he is not thrilled about having to get out of bed early to pick Sam up for school - of course he does it but he'd rather be in bed sleeping. They don't do soppy or sentimental and yet they find ways to express their love for each other so romantically that it is hard to avoid that warm and fuzzy inside feeling when they do. (I can't believe I just wrote that, but it's true!) Another great skill by this author.

I found myself drawing parallels with the Twilight series: Sam and Caleb's relationship is shrouded by a dilemma in the same way that Bella and Edward's was. Caleb's absence for most of the second book, together with the interaction between Sam and Tobias reminded me of the plot of New Moon. In this final book the two of them face a threat from the Cambion leaders in the same way that Bella and Edward did from the Volturi in Breaking Dawn. However, I also believe The Cambion Chronicles is showing The Twilight Saga what NOT to do.

This is a fantastic trilogy and one of the best under this genre that I have read.

4.0 out of 5 stars fitting end to the trilogy 11 Aug 2013

Fitting end to the trilogy, however left me wanting to know the other cambion's stories. I would also like to fast forward into the future and see what would happen if they did have children. Would they be a new breed or a mixture of both their cambion.

I read all three books and truly enjoyed each one. I was thrilled at the happy ending for her and her mom. It would be great for one more book but I was pleased with the ending. Love conquers all.

This is a fantastic trilogy and one of the best under this genre that I have read. It is not often I find a full set in a series that consistently satisfies my reading experience - and saves the best to last.

If you like YA fantasy fiction with a dash of romance, this series is a must read that I am certain will leave you grinning from ear-to-ear.
5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing 20 Nov 2013

5.0 out of 5 stars One wants her, the other wants...whats inside 14 Sep 2013

Imagine you have two guys fighting over you. One wants you and one wants...what is inside of you and will kill anyone including you to have it.

That is what Samara Marshall has to deal with in the final installment of the Cambion Chronicles. She has Caleb Baker, her Cake Boy and now she has Tobias, the Incubi from the last book hunting after her, the Succubi inside of her and his stolen body.

There is a way for Samara and Caleb to get rid of him and the higher ups in the Cambion world....she has to give Caleb the "goods"- yeah, she must be deflowered in order to keep the demons off her tail and her mom is not having that.

For me, this final book was very sassy, sexy and funny. Samara tells it like it is but again, she is pretty "gullible and prideful" and she says in the story. She keeps so much from her friends and it makes her seem anti-social to a degree(yet her circumstances pushed her in that direction-to be fair). Also I enjoyed the fight scenes between the Cambions.

Things can get confusing along the way as you read these books but the romance, the humor, and the unique mythological creatures makes up for it.

Really.
