5.0 out of 5 stars A quite amazing story of the unknown, 27 Sep 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Fade-out (Paperback)
Most of the story Fade Out is believable - the whole business of aliens landing on Earth has been foretold time and again of course - but don't judge this book like that - believe me, you want to read right through to the end and then see if you can believe what goes on! Tilley writes very well in this book and his research into the geography and authorities involved is unflawed. I won't quote the last word - it'll give the whole book away!

4.0 out of 5 stars Engrossing-- at times it bogged down-- still I wanted more!, 7 Sep 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Fade-out (Paperback)
Found this book in a collection of hand me downs I received. Printed in1975 I at first put it aside as it was rather battered and unappealing andsci-fi is not my usual reading. Looks can be deceiving as this book ( taken up by chance recently) proved. The author has cleverly interwoven the international power struggle of the mid twentieth century with the coming of the unknown. I found the storyline bogged down at times in the moralistic arguements of decision making of the " powers to be", but the timeframe of the story resurrected the plot when needed. The ending left me searching the web for more tilley.!

5.0 out of 5 stars What a book!, 11 May 2005
By
This review is from: Fade-out (Paperback)
I loved this book. I have read it twice now and I'm sure I'll be reading it again very soon. Tilley has written this book extremely well and has made me want to read more of his work. Not the most fast paced book in the world, although you may disagree, but every page entices you to keep turning and turning. I lost a lot of sleep to this book for that very reason. It really makes you think about life, human relations, and the world in general. My, My, what we take for granted. I would thoroughly recommend this book even for people who wouldn't normally read sci-fi type stuff!
