ok but nothing special 30 April 2011
Format:Paperback
This was an ok book but really nothing terribly special. I struggled working out what was going on at times. There were too many characters who weren't developed well enough to make them memorable. The ending was very abrupt and does mean if you don't like leaving storylines incomplete you are obliged to read final frame (which I fortunately picked up from a chaarity shop).

With this novel, Adams has made up for the dismal 'Bird' and has given us a high quality book that is probably her second best to date, her best being 'Cast The First Stone'. The novel is only short, the print is quite large, but there are plenty of chances for massive twists and turns, culminating in a very interesting ending and shocking surprises for some of the characters. There is only one mild gripe that I have and that is that at times; the book just got a bit confusing. I was struggling to remember who was who and what was going on with each set of characters. However, apart from that, the book is very good.

This detective story has little to commend it. The disjointed story-line is infuriating, and the gratuitous use of sado-masichistic description is unworthy of decent fiction writing. The whole plot could be written on the back of a postage stamp. Not worth the reader's time.
