Turtles do not have teeth. Rather, their jaws are covered by horny ridges. In carnivorous turtles, these ridges are sharp as blades while in herbivorous turtles, they are saw-like.
Leatherback sea turtles have the largest flippers of any sea turtle. They can grow up to 8.9 feet (2.7 meters). Unlike other sea turtles, none of their flippers have claws.
The hawksbill sea turtle is one of the most endangered turtles in the world, with its population declining by 80% in the past three generations. This is because its shell, commonly called a tortoiseshell, is often used for decorative purposes.
