Book Description

IP Factly presents... "101 Facts… Turtles!"

Amazing facts, photos and video links to some of the world's most adorable creatures.

Turtle books for children - a fun and fascinating way for young readers to find out more about these vulnerable and often endangered animals.

This turtle and tortoise book for kids mixes facts, photos and even includes a video clip section.
IP Factly's 101 Facts series has been designed to encourage and bolster independent reading.

Accompanying webpage with video clips

This book provides fact after fact for information hungry children to tell family and friends, and even has an accompanying webpage with video clips of many of the turtle and tortoise species in the book.
The videos are split into bear species to further encourage independent reading and learning.
It makes learning fun and gives a real reason for children to want to read by themselves. Kids will love discovering animal facts to share and enjoy.

The video links mean children come back again and again, naturally developing their reading and learning skills (early kindle models don't support video but the safe website link is given).

Fascinating Facts Include...

In British English, the word “turtle” is only used for sea-dwelling species whereas the word “tortoise” is used for land-dwelling species.
Turtles have one of the longest lifespans of any animal, with large species able to live from 60 to 150 years!
Turtles do not have teeth. Rather, their jaws are covered by horny ridges. In carnivorous turtles, these ridges are sharp as blades while in herbivorous turtles, they are saw-like.
Leatherback sea turtles have the largest flippers of any sea turtle. They can grow up to 8.9 feet (2.7 meters). Unlike other sea turtles, none of their flippers have claws.
The hawksbill sea turtle is one of the most endangered turtles in the world, with its population declining by 80% in the past three generations. This is because its shell, commonly called a tortoiseshell, is often used for decorative purposes.

I just picked up 101 Facts about Turtles and am very glad I did. My girl likes the book very much because she loves the fact that there is American English and British English differentiation. Her biology teacher appreciates this reading project as well and rewarded my girl with a good grade. This book is yet another great kids book like all the other books from IP Factly. Thanks again for helping out my girl getting better and better grades!

This little book is packed with facts and pictures of turtles of all kinds. I didn't know, for example, that some turtles ar soft-shelled. But the Florida soft shell turle is. The pictures look great and will be very enjoyable for anyone who is interested in knowing more about turlte. My kid will be thrilled with this book!
