The video links mean children come back again and again, naturally developing their reading and learning skills (early kindle models don't support video but the safe website link is given).

Fascinating Facts Include...

There are an estimated 170 billion galaxies in the universe.
One particle of light takes up to 170,000 years to travel from the core of the Sun to its surface. However, it only takes 8 minutes and 19 seconds for that particle to travel from the Sun to the Earth.
Even though Mercury is the nearest planet to the Sun, Venus is the hottest planet in the solar system. This is because Mercury does not have any atmosphere, and so it cannot trap heat.
Saturn is the least dense planet, or least compact planet in the solar system. In fact, it is even less dense than water. This means that if you were to put Saturn in the middle of the ocean, it would float!
Stars spend 90% of their lifetime as dwarf stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Space, the final frontier 24 Aug 2014
By J. Chambers - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
"101 Facts... Space" is a very interesting introduction to the universe. I know the target audience is school-age kids, but I enjoyed the book, and even as interested as I am in space, I learned a few facts. The book begins on the biggest scale possible - the universe and its creation, including the major theories about the origin of the universe. Moving on to galaxies, the author describes our galaxy, the Milky Way. (I love the story from Greek mythology about how the name "Milky Way" came to be.) About our own sun, it was amazing to learn that a particle of light takes up to 170,000 years to travel from the core of the Sun to its surface, then only eight minutes to travel from the Sun to Earth. Backing up in scale a bit, our solar system is discussed, with some factoids about each of the eight planets and their moons. (And yes, I miss Pluto too.) Next come comets and asteroids, followed by a simple description of black holes and how they're formed. The last section of the book is about space exploration to date. At the back of the book is a page of video links for those who want to study space topics further.

I read the book for free with my Amazon Kindle Unlimited subscription.

My twins are just absolutely fascinated with the world of the space. They learn at school about space, but this book called 101 Facts Space is helping them discover even more of this fascinating topic. This book really makes learning a fun process for them and they specially like the fact that Stars spend 90% of their lifetime as dwarf stars. There are many fascinating facts included in this book and I am really thankful that I picked up this book. It is a great readiing project for them and they are looking forward to show their friends at school what they have learned over the weekend.
