I found this little book enormously encouraging. Eddie Askew is a very gifted writer who manages to capture the essence of the scriptural passages he uses and apply them in both prose and poetry. Over the years I have read the book numerous times and find that I keep going back to it. Eddie takes a different Bible passage each day, writes a few simple thoughts with real life illustrations about how that passage can be practically applied, and then prays on paper in the form of free verse poetry. He expresses a depth of spiritual insight which shows great understanding, but also shows his own vulnerability by being very open about how life really is, not trying to 'make everything right!' I have been very blessed by his empathetic and honest writing, and found I could really identify with his struggles in living the Christian life, realising that we have a lot in common!
The Christian life is a rich tapestry of experiences, and in this book he focuses on some of the difficulties we face as Christians in our daily walk with God, but the end result is a positive experience as he shares how God has helped him in those difficulties and made His presence felt. I heartily recommend this little book, particularly to those, who as the title suggests, are 'Facing the Storm' of life.
