Product Description

—Training Magazine USA, July 2005

"Facilitation Made Easy is a compilation of absolutely indispensable guidelines...I recommend to every new classroom trainer who crosses my path."

Review

"[A] compilation of absolutely indispensable guidelines for everything from setting up a room to ensuring participant safety to using flip charts. Esther Cameron also includes useful information on facilitating groups, dealing with participants and management, and handling assorted logistics. Realistic, honest, and written by someone who's clearly spent time in the trenches. This is the one I recommend to every new classroom trainer who crosses my path."--Jul 1, 2005 - Training Magazine

Not only have I used this book myself but have recommended it to a number of colleagues who wished to develop their facilitation skills. This book successfully removes the mystic and jargon so often associated with facilitation and makes it accessible to all. Great practial advice is offered for all stages in the facilitation life cycle, the preparation, the doing and the follow up - a must have for all those starting out on the journey of facilitation.

If you are only going to buy one book to improve your facilitation skills it should be this one! Whether you are an experienced facilitator, a newcomer, or somewhere in between this book has something to offer. Comprehensive in its scope, yet highly approachable and interesting, Esther Cameron demonstrates her experience and professionalism on page after page.

No aspect of the process - or what it ought to be - from pre-planning to post session follow-up is left unaccounted for. The aims of a workshop, the role of the facilitator, how to manage the discussion and work effectively with the client throughout the process to put it all together - are all clearly developed step by step - as is troubleshooting some of the pitfalls one can likely encounter along the way. Numerous case studies support the theory and help to make it real.

Esther Cameron has obviously been there, done that, and got the t-shirt when it comes to the art and science of effective facilitation... and it shows. Buy it!
