The story...A doctor attempts to restore his sisters looks when her face is severely burned when acid is thrown on it, he abducts young women and conducts experiments with skin grafts but it fails. Later he is assisted by an ex Nazi doctor who has experience of it. Meanwhile the rich father of one of the kidnapped women hires a private detective to find his daughter.
Directed by Jess Franco who has been responsible for countless abominations over the years, but I consider this his best film. There is actually a budget here and therefore it's no way as cheap and tacky as the majority of his work and there's also a familiar cast including Caroline Munroe and Telly Savalis. The direction is nothing special and the music is bad but where the film really hits the spot is in the gore scenes. Deaths include scissor stabbing, syringe in the eye, death by drill but probably the highlight is the face removal scenes. These drawn out graphic and bloody scenes with the victims still awake are quality. I'd actually rate the film 3 and a half and I recommend gore fans check this film out.
