Relaxed, refreshed and bursting with energy, Westlife, the quiet superstars of the mainstream UK music scene, bounce back with their new album Face To Face. It’s a world that they have dominated for seven years and the album features all the hallmarks of that reign--a collection of classic songs and future standards. In brief, Face To Face finds Westlife doing what they’ve always done best. After a brief interlude with their Rat Pack album of classic song sung in the style of Sinatra, Face To Face is Westlife’s first collection of new songs since Turnaround topped the charts in 2003. "It’s got the best material we’ve ever released", says Shane confidently. Agrees Nicky: "At the time Turnaround seemed like one of our best albums and this one feels even better". Song writing and production duties are equally divided between long-term collaborator Steve Mac and Swedish hit-makers The Location, returning to the Westlife fold after working on their first two albums (and for Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys and *NSYNC among many others), with recording done in Ireland, Sweden and London over the long hot summer. Passion is very much the key to the opening single "You Raise Me Up", Shane singing the hymn-like refrain over a simple piano melody before Mark’s soaring vocal ushers in Kian and Nicky’s blissful harmonies. A slow builder, the song swells into a full-blown gospel epic complete with strings, celestial choirs and something entirely new for Westlife--bagpipes! "I really enjoyed singing it. I hope people find it inspiring", says Mark. "It’s an incredible song", adds Nicky. "I can see it becoming a favourite at weddings and funerals, like our first hit Swear It Again".
A new start and a new chapter… but the Westlife story is far from over.

Ahhhem... Well, to be honest ive always hated westlife with a passion but last year when they released 'u raise me up' - i was amazed! Really love that song! Love 'amazing' too and i think they have changed style somewhat. Yep theres still the ballads but they now seem much more polished and a bit backstreet boyish (which is a good thing i might add). There aint a bad track on this album to be fair and im now proud to be a westy! he he

I have loved Westlife since they first started seven years ago and I just have to say that this album has not let me down. It is fantastic. They just keep getting better and better. KEEP IT GOING BOYS. YOU ARE THE BEST.

there is something about westlife's songs that you can't find in other pop artists, i can't put my finger on it but there is something special about them. is it the harmony or maybe the melody? maybe the emotional voices..but still their forumla works better than any other formula in the pop world. i have'nt seen yet any modern pop artist with 7 albums, 20 singles, so many world tours and THAT huge fan base. their new studio album 'Face to face' is for me their second best album (still not as good as their debut album) but now it looks like it's also their best selling one! i really wish all the luck to the lads and keep bringing us great albums like this with great songs such as "change you mind", "that's where you find love" and "colour my world".
p.s just heard they signed up for more 5 albums! fantastic news!!

going downhill
westlife seemed to start to lose their appeal with this album. unfortunately previous albums were a lot better and i still prefer them to date. Read more

this is the one cd in which i like, the songs are very good and easy to listen to,for a westlife fan this would make a perfect gift.
