Well it's been a long wait (almost twelve years) since Bob Seger's last album and yes all is well, Bob's new CD is everything we have come to expect and won't disappoint fans of this criminally ignored (here in the UK) giant of rock.Bob Seger has been around since the mid to late 60's producing great "blue collar" rock anthems with blues and country influences.
"Face The Promise" sees Bob Seger cover old ground in terms of musical styles, driving (but always melodic) rock interspersed with catchy rock ballads and country. This is all to the good however because this is what Seger does best and what fans will have wanted. His voice is unchanged and the "hooks" in the 12 songs here will soon be implanted in your memory.Production is great and the band play impeccably.Guesting on 2 numbers are Kid Rock & Patty Lovelace respectively and the duets work well.
The CD comes in 2 forms, standard version and CD/DVD.I would definitely recommend paying extra for the latter since it not only includes an interview with Seger about the new album but also 2 great live performances of "Still The Same" and "Hollywood Nights" from 1978.The promo videos for "Like A Rock" and "The Fire Inside" are also included - quality is great. This is great news especially for fans here in the UK.Bob Seger is hardly ever seen on TV music channels here and hopefully more DVD releases will follow.
In summary if you know Bob Seger, you will love this CD,if you don't then first buy "Live Bullet" on CD, then you will want them all!
I really hope Bob Seger tours in support of this album and plays some UK dates - he's a rock legend.
