This is great but it could be even better,
By Gus the cat (London) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Original Golden Oldies Vol. 1 (Audio CD)
In the same way that Suggs once urged everyone to get the Prince back on his feet perhaps someone should ask the great man to do something about the difficulties of getting hold of parts of PBs back catalogue. Yes this has four or five of the greatest ska anthems ever written or recorded with tunes like Time Longer than Rope, Enjoy Yourself, Wash Wash and or course Madness but even if you include the Vol II and the more recent King of Ska compilation there are many brilliant Buster ska tunes that are only available for pretty big bucks on scratchy 45s. This is great but imagine what a 30 track compilation of Buster's career from Busters Shack to the early 70s would be like.

some of the best of the King of ska,
By Mailian (Brussels, Belgium) - See all my reviews

This 1rst installment of Prince Buster's ska productions gives us an incomplete collection of the excellent tracks he issued under his name. His inimitable sound of handclaps and sax honks emphasizing the ska beat coupled with strong lyrics about his family (Dany, Dane and Lorraine) or his musical opponent Derrick Morgan (Black head chinaman) shines throughout this too short cd. Another highlight is Creation with its beautiful guitar intro. Worth buying because only Wash wash appears on his Fabulous Greatest Hits.
