Book Description

Nov 2007
Felting is hotter than ever and scarves are fabulous first projects for crafters to try. The simple process yields infinitely varied results, with rich colours, forms and visual appeal. Created by two internationally known designers, these 20 spectacular boas, wraps, shawls and stoles are wearable art. Ranging from elegant to trendy, the projects include a scarf with lacy patterns; a wrap inspired by the delicate hues in Monets water lily paintings; and a pretty dip-dyed party scarf.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book 10 Jun 2013
By Nicole
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
The book explains different ways of felting scarves. I expected the standard way of felting scarves and was surprised to see the many different ways. The book gave me a lot of inspiration and new ideas. But most of all the book gave me more knowledge about different ways of felting scarves. I just love this book. I keep looking in it and every time I am amazed what I see and read about felting scarves.

3.0 out of 5 stars Slightly disappointed 16 Jan 2012
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
The front cover enticed me to ask for this book for Christmas. There is one scarf design which I love, and a fair number of good tips, but there are a lot of revolting designs also. I didn't realise it would have such an American feel to it, which I do not like. This review is obviously a totally personal opinion.
My tip to anyone buying this is to look inside first, it may be more to your taste than mine.

Lots of helpful details so you can make similar items - creative, talented and interesting authors, super practitioners at their craft. Brilliant for anyone wanting to make felted scarves that are out of the ordinary, using lovely wools with silks, etc. included. Super pictures too.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great felt artists, so-so book 30 Jan 2010
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
Both authors are great textile artists so there is much in this book that is useful about how they make felt. And it's a beautifully produced book. But it really is a project book, so consider whether you want to make a lot of scarves before you buy it. If you are a beginner and want to make scarves, it could be good. If you are experienced and just like to get a few hints and ideas, borrow it! If you are a beginner and want to make art pieces, 3D work etc, buy something else. Maybe 'How we felt' by Carol Huber.
